Everything you've tried so far works primarily on serotonin. But you've gotten worse, right? I think there are many different chemical imbalances that cause depression. Not just serotonin. It sounds like your serotonin might be OK. That's why serotonin drugs aren't working. The problem I might guess is something else. If I were you I would seriously consider trying a medicine in a completely different class. I don't know if you can get Wellbutrin (Bupropion). If not, ask about Nortriptyline or Desipramine. You would likely need the Desyrel to sleep with Wellbutrin, but maybe not with Desipramine or Nortriptyline. These are all drugs that work on different chemical imbalances than the ones you've tried so far.

Have you ever had anything other than just depression? For example, mania? Or hypomania? Or psychosis? Wide mood swings between feeling real good and then feeling real bad? If yes, then an antidepressant of any kind might just make things worse. A mood stabilizer or two would be an approach to consider. It just seems to me that everything you've tried so far is pretty much the same, and they haven't worked, so it makes sense I think to look elsewhere. Nortriptyline, Desipramine, Wellbutrin, mood stabilizers. Something like that. JohnL
