When I was on Effexor (200 mg/day) I was successful in tapering down and quitting by taking 20 mg of Prozac per day for one week. Since the half life is so long, it acts as a nice buffer when quitting the Effexor. Call your doc and have a one wk rx called in. It has worked well for others also. Good luck,
