The only thing that's keeping me going at all right now is being able to remember that the last time I was on anti-depressants, they WORKED. I went from a state similar to the one I'm in now, to being able to function happily for years without depression or medications. Really.
My experience back then convinces me that if I'm sliding back into despair, it's a sign that the medication isn't working. My own situation is complicated by an incompetant doctor. But I've got just about enough energy to fight that right now. After all, I'm fighting for my life.
As for yours, can you call your p-doc and ask to be seen sooner? It sounds as though you're in enough of a crisis that it's justified by any standard. A friend of mine who is happy with her doctor says that she can call and get her meds adjusted the next day, sometimes sooner. Call your doctor and say that you just can't wait. Most p-docs keep an appointment time open for emergencies, in my experience. They may not advertise that to their patients, but there's no reason to suffer this much for that long.
