> Hi: I am helping my mother try and get through this latest depression she is having. 6 weeks ago, the dr changed her from prozac, tofanil, and xanax after 9 years on the drugs. SHe is very depressed now and having lots of side effects. Tonight, I gave her the remeron 45mg and transene and so far she is o.k. When she takes the remeron, depokate together, she is clumsy, drunk like walking and just plain out of it. She has very bad nightmares. We found a new doctor this past week. who told me about this site. We are giving the remeron one more week and then think about changing. Any thoughts or experiences on the remeron/depakote meds would be apprecitated as I am very concerned about my mother. Thanks so much. Lisa

Sorry to hear about how things are going with your mother. There's lots of info here on Remeron, and some about Depakote. How rapidly did she go off the xanax? I take it the Tranxene was to detox from the Xanax? (I wonder why s/he didn't use Klonopin?)
Remeron can cause some significant sedation in some people, esp. at first. The addition of a benzo like Tranxene can't help things in that regard. But as far an antidepressant that works on anxiety, Remeron is terrific.
