I just restarted Remeron, 15 mgs at bedtime for sleep. The first 2 days were very groggy but I get used to the sedation and it does not carry into the AM. I took TCA's for years and find Remeron less sedating during the day. If I were to choose between a TCA (cyclic) and Remeron I would go for the Remeron first....any TCA, esp Anafranil is going to have many side effects....drying of all body systems, lowering of blood pressure, ect. One tends to get used to the TCA's side effects...i did...but it takes time and Remeron seems to be a kinder, gentler med.
