A list of all the possible side effects of aspirin could scare the hell out of anyone.
I think our best hope in treatment is that there are so many drug and other treatments, and so many combos thereof that there always remains a good chance that something not yet tried will halp.
I THINK that a normally toxic dose may not be a toxic dose for people who need high therapeutic doses; the reason need a high dose may be that our metabolism just chews it all up. At any rate, we need trust our docs: we don't know how to place the facts we learn into a meaningful framework determined by general medicine. And that is just the start of it. (Which is why psychologists should not prescribe!)
If your doc does not provide the respect and assurance you need, and his pharmacological expertise does not override that, maybe you would do well to look elsewhere.
