Work, recession, economy....

Posted by TexasChic on April 5, 2008, at 21:08:33

Where I work, in our particular niche, there are 3 divisions, each with a project manager, assistant project manager, then my position. My co-worker, who's an assistant project manager and works with me under my supervisor, told me that the woman who has the corresponding job to hers is retiring and they are not replacing her! We can't imagine how they are going to do all that work with one less person. We're already seriously overworked! She says she is now concerned that her job is in jeopardy!!! She also said she talked to two girls the other day who were leaving with pink slips! As much as I want another job, its actually smarter to stay where I am right now.

For the moment things at work are okay, but other times I feel like I'm going to lose my mind because of all the stress with my supervisor! She tells me she wants me to talk to her about things that upset me, but at the same time she says I'm not doing my job when clearly (to me) I go above and beyond. I do my job well, there's no question about that to me. And that's been a hard thing for me to acknowledge. Its easier to assume everything is my fault.

I really think I need to go to a T to figure out how to deal with her. I know its all psychological and if I can just find the right way to deal with her things will be better. It still will never be my dream job, but I guess I should make the best of it for the time being.

Hi Texaschic,

I've talked with my T many times about how to say things at work and how to cope with coworkers who add to my stress level. So if you think a T could help you I think you should make an appointment.

It's hard to remember that things aren't your fault when someone constantly blames you, I've been in that situation and it really does a number on your self esteem.

Let me know if you do see a T, as I said mine has helped me and is currently helping me get through the stress of being unemployed.

Thanks Poet! I really do need to make finding a T a priority. I keep putting it off because I'm broke, or busy, or tired. And its so hard to choose a new one! But I have been looking at the ones nearby who take my insurance, and have corresponded with one through email. I need to just go ahead and set it up.

This week my boss was the fun loving Dr. Jeckle. We'll see what next week brings!
