Hello! Still see some familiar names

Posted by Deneb on September 23, 2015, at 22:07:09

Hello! It's been a long time since I've visited. I see a few familiar faces.

I'm still doing very well. I'm still in a steady relationship and we're both very happy people.

I finally left my dead end job and I'm going to school for a new field.

I'm doing well in it so far and I love learning.

I'm a really different person now. I'm very confident. You can even say I'm a natural leader.

I volunteer, I lead activities in my hobby group and I'm networking with people in my new field. One of my goals is to eventually be an expert and give talks in large conferences. I would really enjoy doing this.

I'm still very introverted but I'm definitely not shy or socially anxious. I'm the opposite. I'm very confident around people. I just don't need attention that way.

In terms of my previous BPD diagnosis, I can very confidently say that I have zero traces of that now.

I'm the opposite. I am never jealous, I don't seek attention. I don't care about rejection at all whether it be socially, romantically through strangers etcetera.

I'm not sure what happened but I choose to believe that I just grew up away from that. I matured. Please don't ever give up if someone gives you a label like BPD.

You can certainly fully recover and thrive.

I never think about suicide now. I'm never depressed, only sad when appropriate and never for longer than a couple of days. I'm never incapacitated or overwhelmed. I deal very well in very stressful situations.

My default mood is always content to happy.

I really hope that my update gives someone out there hope.

I think I'm just a late bloomer.

Congratulations! I'm very happy to hear life is going so well for you.

I can't point to any great changes for myself but I do think I'm doing a bit better overall too.

Haha! That is great, Deneb. I'm really happy for you!

What field are you doing now? I tried Chemistry, but it was too hard for me (honestly). I really, really, really tried at it, and I just couldn't.

I'm really excited about my classes. It's a brand new field for me. I had no knowledge of most of this field before but I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm learning programming. I'm in a practical program now but I'm naturally very curious so I suspect I may branch out. Things like data science and artificial intelligence would be very intellectually stimulating.

The school I'm in isn't a university, it's a college, so it's a lot easier and is more like high school but more specialized.

I didn't want to go to school for 4 years before knowing whether or not I would enjoy this new field so I'm just taking a two year program.

The demographics of the student population is very different from university. It's a lot more diverse. There are programs where people learn how to do everything from landscaping, construction, bartending to earning bachelors degrees and even graduate degrees in critical care nursing and simliar things.

Colleges here are not the same as universities.

your defeintly a role model, i'm on the same path right now being back in school, but after all the past indications that i would not move forward are starting to disappear, only have to deal with enhancing cognitive abilities to do well in studying for my courses......but nothing stays the same forever

im glad to hear your success post, keep going!

That is great, Deneb!

I went to tech (which is like college, for you guys). I started a 2 year course in sports science, which was new for me. Different students, yeah.

Programming sounds fun. Heaps of different things you could do with that.

Hi Deneb,

I remember you from many years ago. I'm so happy to hear that you are doing so well. When we were in the middle of it, it was hard to believe that things could work out. Isn't it nice to know that sometimes they really do?

I'm so glad to hear about your new life, Deneb. You have made incredible progress.

I was just reminded of Babblefest 2006 (Toronto), seeing the fridge magnet you made for the event on my fridge.

Makes me think of you, all the time. I hope that has helped. lol

Watching Deneb bloom has been one of my great joys on Psycho-Babble.
