Still married...gahhhh!

Yes. I filed a year ago on September 4th for a non contestable, state mandated 50/50 split divorce. I walked away, flew to the other side of the continent, and have slowly been building a life of some kind out West. I love chilly nights.

No children. One residence. We just closed on the sale of the condo. Next month the D-I-V-O-R-C-E goes to court. It's up to the judge.

My anxiety and depression went for a couple of trips around the moon. I'm lucky to have found a good therapist and great pdoc out here in the podunks. A medication tweak has me upright and ready to put this behind me, already.

Next Friday it will come to an end. It's been a really hard year, but living by my own choices has been profound and liberating.

Keep liberating. It seems to suit you.

Thank you, Scott!
I could say that it's just how life worked out that I didn't find my footing and actually live independently until now. I realise that I had no tools to do so, no confidence.
Even now what's really changed is that I'm no longer reliant on one person, my spouse, to live life vicariously through. It's been hard for me to put my own self out there. Some days I still don't get beyond the front door.
But I have only my inner critic pushing me through, not someone rolling their eyes in exasperation.

It's a good thing.
