I got asked out on a date and said yes because I would've felt bad saying no. It's the first time I've been asked out in a long time (I'm 29 and last time i had a boyfriend I was 23).
He's a great guy but I've been isolating myself more and more lately and it seems like too much work to do this. Also, I had a kind of traumatic thing happen when i was little, so I'm not interested in any kind of physical contact, and this has been a deal breaker in the past. I'd rather just not have to deal with it.
Any comments/tips welcome. Thanks for listening!

You could tell him... I mean... See how things go... See if you have fun / feel like you can talk to him... Tell him that you don't know if you are ready to be dating, but you found yourself agreeing to go on a date with him...
Maybe don't say that you felt sorry for him... Did you? Or was it more that it can be hard to say 'no' sometimes... I... Wouldn't quite know what to say if someone asked me out... I guess... The idea of a 'formal date' would scare the hell out of me... I'm not entirely sure that my culture does that quite the way that is standard for other parts of the world, anyway (you tend to get to know people in herds, over here, and hang about in herds until you pair off).

Why not just check it out? If he wants to move faster than you are up to, you can just walk away. If you feel just not up to pursuing anything, then you don't. But, at worst, it could be a pleasant diversion.

I went on a 2nd date with him tonight...it was ok, maybe he/the idea of not being alone are growing on me.
