Im so sad about Boston

Posted by gadchik on April 16, 2013, at 17:34:17

This was absolutely senseless, and Im so sad for all the people that have lost life and limb. I went outside last night, feeling a heavy weight on my chest. I decided to look up at the sky, and I was rewarded with the most beautiful view of my dozens of pear trees, white in full bloom. They lit up against the stars and a sliver of moon. And the perfumed air surrounded me. I felt amazed at such beauty...and sorrow at the same time, for all the tragedy.

This is a poem from "This Place I Know", a collection of poems put together after 9/11.

"Stars"

"I like the way they looked down from the sky

And didnt seem to mind the way I cried

And didnt say, Now wipe away those tears,

Or, Tell us, tell us whats the matter here!

But shining through the dark they calmly stayed

And gently held me in their quiet way.

I felt them watching over me, each one

And let me cry and cry till I was done.

I have read many accounts of the tragedy. One poignant one is of the blind runners with a coach that crossed over the finish line five minutes before the first explosion. I heard today that the bombs were made in a pressure cooker and filled with scrapnel to cause as much injury as possible and then placed in trash cans along the route. I always wanted to do this marathon when younger. Such dedication & motivation. Even people on skate boards with no lower limbs, and people in wheelchairs do the marathons. So inspiring!!! Ive heard some poignant stories too. One that tore me up was that the 8 yr old boy who ran from the first bomb but was killed by the second. And 2 brothers each lost a leg. But I also saw alot of caring people helping others and a lone runner early morning in Boston the day after. He wasnt letting this horrific event stop him.

yes, I did hear about the letter to Obama. This makes me nervous about cities, and I was just in NYC and loved it. I hate that these people were at a public event and enjoying life, it just makes you not want to go anywhere.

yea the thing that makes me think, all the suicide bombings in the eastern places, that's scary just walking outside to go the store fearing there may be one. It's all over the place, but still we don't know who did it, could of been a mad teenager, hater, anyone...but the thing that concerns me is if the US starts having suicide bombings. Bomb control is high over here....a while back I was with my dad and he went to a law convention, something ... I can't rerember exactly what it was, but there was an FBI head that was speaking about prevention of terrorism in the US. It was in 2004, so that's 9 years ago....I have to say the government is staying on top of it....but its impossible to prevent them from happening, communism control everyone in there society so there's no free choice bomb attacks....but where not communists lol. They will find out who did it....yea

For sure, here in America, they will be found out, whoever did this. I loved the Bostonian guy who said, "You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us."

I posted yesterday, but maybe forgot to hit the send button. I live in Boston and one of my neighbors lost his 8 year old son. His daughter and wife are both in the hospital. The police had his street closed off to keep the media out.

It's devastating what happened but particularly real when it happens to someone you know.

My husband said that if they find the person who did this, they should just execute him and not bother with the expense of a trial. This is very unlike him (and MA does not have the death penalty), but I can understand how he feels.

The marathon is a totally feel-good event. It's not competitive at all. Nobody cares who wins. Most of the crowds gather around two, when the mass of runners are almost at the end, egging them on, saying it's just a mile or two, you can do it, handing out water bottles, etc.

That's what's so tragic. That this totally feel-good event should be marred by this.

that's why they did it....because there either angry with someone or society and wanted to cause a wreck event during a fun event. There's a movie called the Sum of All Fears, and its a bit extreme, but someone put a nuc in a vending machine and it blew the stadium and half the city like a nuc would. It's fiction, but think about it, they wanted to stop the happiness and fun that was happeing, in both the movie, and at boston, of course In the movie 50000 people plus where gone in 3 seconds. Think of it, someone sees people happy, like in a park, they are enjoying there time with the kids, or lover, anyone and there are other people who resent that....they can't stand to see it because maybe some kinda of complex they want to destroy. There's a saying that there are 2 kinds of people in the world, the hunters, and the hunted. I know its crazy but that kinda goes with what where saying.

ill be somewhere and see people laughing and having a good time and wished I was having it. But there are tons of reasons this person could have done this, they didn't plant it in a major area where many people could get killed, it was more to the side....even though we lost 2 people. You gotta think how these people think....and its difficult, that's what the government needs to crack down on.....
