An 8 year old is mostly unable to grasp new abstractions... By age 15, they can be fully fledged to reason in 3 dimensions, dream in color, draw true perspective and retain the significance of abstractions; a whole lot more skills, abilities and attributes arrive than just pubic hair and a deeper voice... Sadly, I find that in our busy world no one trumpets this "genetic mutation" as being important; its dreadfully important; its our whole future from age 15...

I really like your personal contracts. They are similar to mine.

I am actually quite comfortable with uncertainty. It is uncertainty that has helped me keep going for 25 years of treatment of MDD despite some people's contentions that I would never get to where I wanted to go. I did make it there, finally. We will just have to see if my current treatment continues to work for the long-term. This is, of course, uncertain. So, I might as well make the most of what I currently have to work with, and have fun doing it.

Do you feel the contract could be introduced to 15 year old boys (and girls!) as a rite of passage and a set of life guidances?

I have found that as the celebrant designs his/her own emancipation event, the process is most fulfilling... Sometimes, religiosity may get in the way... The purpose for the celebrant is to make a statement, such as: "From this time forward, I am adult in my family of origin"... Rumor has it among the religious is that emancipation is a type of divorce... Instead it is clearly the first few steps on the celebrants new journey of life, this time all the tools given by God to best serve the celebrant in adulthood... Like I said, first few steps, which can be tentative, just like an infant only in the abstract... By age 25, which coincides with the end of skeletal growth, hopefully 10 years will have passed and skills, abilities and attributes, acquired by age 15, will have gained practical applications by plenty of practice...
