believe me,i know about the cold,Im still hiking outside! have to wear long johns,top and bottom,and all the accessories! I like to hike better in cold than heat tho.

You have such lovely weather, at least in winter. I wouldn't like the east coast in summer. No frozen lakes yet? Don't you feel more civilised in winter? And if it is too cold to go out, then at least you have done your best thinking you should. A risk when it comes to whisky drinking. What's 20F anyway? I have forgotten that scale.

About -7C I think. I like winter but I'm not sure about teh civilized part. I think I like it because the sidewalks and parks seem emptier. No frozen lakes here yet but we did get a light dusting of snow. Mostly melted now except where plants or a rise in the ground create some shade where you can still see small white patches. I'm very glad I don't live further south where they get mostly freezing rain. All the inconvenience and none of the beauty.

Neither unless a fluke in this area of NC. I would prefer Florida though. Love the heat and warm weather. And shorts year round. Phillipa

My feet are constantly cold in the winter. I've spent a fortune on heating pads, electric slippers, thermal socks, sheepskin slippers.
My feet are still freezing.
But the rest of me is happy as can be. Of course, it's nowhere near 20 here.

We have these new passports in which the photo is blended into the paper. In Dakar I had to have my passport on me some of the time. My sweat leached out the likeness from my photo. At every passport control after that I was asked 'What happened?' That was 35C with maximum humidity. Even some of the neat Africans were sweating.
-7 is pretty reasonable. A good excuse to stay indoors.

I had a friend who lived in the south and he spent winter with his feet in hot water because he thought they had turned numb from the cold.
Later on he was told it was diabetic neuropathy.Then there is that thing where your extremities are prone to cold. I wear bedsocks to bed except in the hottest months. I feel unsecured without them.

Florida would drive me nuts; too many parts of Australia are modelled on it.
I would retreat to Vermont for the winter.
But what would I do in your summer?
Not the best time for Bolivia.
I could go north. Maybe Alaska.
I was always disappointed in (northern) Europe in summer.

My thought was diabetes too. My endocrinologist says I've got no peripheral neuropathy yet. Yet it's a problem now like it never was before. I always had slightly cold feet and remember wearing a couple of pairs of socks with warm slippers in the winter. But now that just doesn't work. Diabetes must be involved somehow.
It's the flooring, I think. I have no real problem if my feet are off the floor. Unfortunately my desk is situated so that that isn't feasible.
The climate at my desk is much worse than the rest of the house. In the summer I joke that I've got a direct line to the bowels of hell there. In the winter, it's frozen. It's near the end of the a/c heating ductwork system. :(

Sigi will take Australia also. I'd do Switzerland in winter if you prefer the cold. Beautiful county. PJ

I used to work in an ice-cold study. I cut the fingertips off a pair of gloves so I could use the keyboard, but my hands still felt frozen. Then I got a laptop!! I can now work wherever I want. That was a few years ago when laptops were expensive. Now you can buy a laptop for a few hundred dollars. A good investment
