some really interesting craft, and yes, I am a girl....
I'd like a garage with tools please. :-)maybe woodcarving, printmaking, sculpture, welding...something like that

sid, Umm. Scratch welding. Peeps like us shouldn't be cut loose with a box of matches.
A mini rocket launcher in the garage, umm, I don't know.
Sculpting would spin my propeller.

I am not only totally lacking in artistic ability, but I'm also the most uncoordinated klutz I've ever met. Yet I grabbed the courage to try stained glass, and I enjoyed it very much. My efforts were respectable for my level of knowledge, if not impressive.
Go for it. Tools can be fun.

Then mosaic art might be thing for you Phillipa. You get to smash all sorts of things and then reassemble the pieces in the manner you see fit.
Add in some concrete or some other sticky medium and the results can be breathtaking. I know a lady that does mosaics with eggshells. Eggshells! They are utterly beautiful.

Go for it, Obsidian. Why shouldn't you be able to do it??
Believe me, if you take a class, you'll find that it isn't so arcane and unapproachable-- and maybe that you actually have learned some skills that you never thought you could.
