My favorite book to read to my beautiful daughter as I watch her falling into sleep.

"Love You Forever" - Robert Munsch

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be...

"Where the wild things are" and "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" are both going to be movies now. I liked them both when I was little.

Yep

"The Magic Faraway Tree" by Enid Blyton

Every one of the Beatrix Potter books for their wonderful style, but particularly "The Tale of Tom Kitten" and "The Story of Squirrel Nutkin".

"Alice in Wonderland"

"The Happy Prince" of course, by Oscar Wilde. We had the bakelite record with Bing Crosby reading it.

My kids were pretty sceptical of this kind of stuff.

"Noggin" and the whole Noggin series....

"Noggin and the Whales"

"Noggin and the Dragon"

"Noggin and the Sooty Storks"

I loved those books. (as did my kids)

They all begin with "This is the castle of Noggin the Nog. Noggin the Nog lived here a long time ago." and when i'd read them to my son even when he was very little he'd say it along with me. so cute.

Kath

ALSO - "Artie and the Princess" - from my childhood. It was printed 1947 & my ex-husband had gotten rid of all my childhood books!!!
:-(

I finally got a copy! Yay

:-) Kath

so many....but right now I read

"Good Night Moon"

to my granddaughter every time she sleeps over here. Used to read it to my daughter, too, about 23+ years ago. Not sure why I love it, but I do.

"Where the Sidewalk Ends"

I sent it to my friend's kiddo's in the UK and they spit Cheerios out their noses.

My favorite is "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage Out"

I love the rhyming in that book!!!

What a good topic. At times, such books are little doses of antidepressant.

So many ...

-Mrs Piggle Wiggle
-Pippy Long Stocking (pre-movie)
-Dr Suess' wonderful whimsy
-The Huckle Cat Books (Richard Scarry)
-Winnie the Pooh (before degraded by Disney)
-Alice in Wonderland ..& Through the Looking Glass

-**Lois Lenski's**
Coal Camp Girl, Cotton in My Sack, Texas Tomboy, Strawberry Girl, Indian Captive..

-Blue Willow by Doris Gates
-The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
-Ann of Green Gables by Lucy Maude Montgomery
-My Side of the Mountain
-Julie of the Wolves

Beverly Cleary wrote a realistic & entertaining story of a family under stress in "Ramona & Her Father". Discovered this while looking for something to read with some kids.
The library is full of treasure.
