my kitten and her blanky

Posted by llurpsienoodle on September 15, 2008, at 18:30:02

Well, the kitten is 6 mos old and weighs 9 lbs. So she's not exactly waifish.

The blanky is queen sized and plush.

So the scene goes like this. Kitten recognizes it "Ooohh! it's the plush blanky" and finds a corner. Then she tugs and tugs and tugs. She gets quite a bit of traction too. She's taken it from the bedroom to the living room, to my office, through the kitchen. The only room she hasn't brought it to is the dining room. I guess there are some limits...

right now she's attempting to drag the blanky behind the couch. She's very persistent-- been working on this problem for about 20 minutes. I believe it's because she doesn't want us to take the blanky and put it back on the bed (she's stolen it in the middle of the night, too!)

(((((((kitten)))))))

Ah, that is so cute to visualize....

One of feline fur children has his "woobies" - pinkish belt-ties from an old long gone robe... two pieces as it has been loved so much it's in two pieces. Convenient as there's now an upstairs and downstairs woobie. Of course, he must have them both upstairs for bedtime. He hearlds their arrival upstairs and ready for bed with a mouth clenched meowing.... it's hilarious.

Kudos to your small baby for being up to handling the queen sizing - impressive as our woobies are quite a lot smaller.

It's my pups tiny that have so many toys and pieces of our clothing all snuggled under them. One the good baby sleeps with us the other boy a brat girls sleeps in her cage with a warm sheepskin mat and a rolled towel under it. Teddy sleeps inbetween us and shares it with kitty sometimes too. Bedroom of animals but what would we do without our furry loves. Phillipa

What a determined cat! Mine has no such perseverance. Very flighty. Say, do you have hardwood floors? Maybe your kitty is trying to clean up her own furballs.

When my kittens were smaller and still in quarantine (they came to me with all sorts of problems bless their little hearts) they, too had a plush blanket that they would drag around.

I was amazed at out these teeny little things could move that blanket around the room, but every morning it was in a different place than when I left it.

The little female is still a dragger and it is not uncommon to find throws, pillows, towels in a completely different place than when I left them.

She is also fascinated by my guinea pig, well to be honest, she is fascinated by the hay in his enclosure. She will sit quietly for a bit selecting just the right piece. Then with surgical precision extract that single piece and make like gangbusters down the hall with it.

I find hay all through my house.

Seldom

My kitty has his 'puppy' which he has had since he was a baby. Back then he and the puppy were the same size, and they are also the same color. I rarely see him actually carrying it, but I find it in a different place everyday. Sometimes I'll find it in bed with me. If I pick it up and say, "I've got your puppy!", he'll get very alert and start meowing at me. He plays with it by biting its ears and meowing at it, then he licks it as if to make sure its okay. Any time I take him to the vet I put the puppy in his carrier with him (even though its a bit beat up by now).

My late beloved monster had a teddy bear » TexasChic

But not the size he was as a kitten...

In fact, the bear was bigger than he was! He'd carry it around in his mouth, and do very embarrassing things with it. We only have one picture of him carrying the bear, which I find kinda heart-breaking.

My favorite was when we first moved to a two story flat. I had three cats at the time, of which he was the Alpha. NO ONE was supposed to touch his teddy bear. So, the bear started moving. And started climbing the stairs. First it was about a quarter of the way up. The next time I climbed the stairs, it was about two thirds of the way up. And finally, the next time -- this is over about three or four days, mind you -- The Bear was at the top of the stairs! Whoohoo! The Bear could come into the bedroom!

And the next time I looked, The Bear was at the bottom of the stairs!

I can't prove it, of course, but I think the younger male cat pushed it down. He was challenging the big guy for dominance at that time, so it's possible.

They are awfully funny critters, aren't they?

That's so cute! I had never heard of another cat that had a stuffed toy he carried around. I haven't got a picture of mine with his because I can never catch him carrying it! Its just in a different place every day. Yeah, they are funny critters.
