People ignored her for an hour?

Have they seen it all before then?

Or people are a bit standoffish?

We had a woman here give birth in a toilet in a public hospital. So dropping down dead in public hospitals is no surprise here.

I heard the editor of (I think) Newsweek (he had a name I can't remember) saying that if income distributions in the US were to return to those of 1990 it would be the biggest transfer of wealth in any country at any time in history.

Hubby had to go to the ER a few weeks ago. The "efficiency" was astounding. He had insurance, was quite ill, and it still took 7 hours. They weren't busy either.

Public hospitals here can be like that.

An old friend in her 80s was in a terrible provincial hospital, withdrawing (of neccessity, too difficult to organise the drugs, unable to find a doctor in the hospital etc etc) from her pathetic (5mg for 5 years) dose of oxycodone because this is a public hospital, and so, not sleeping and dying, she was in ill humour. One day she was taken for a bath and left there for maybe half an hour. She was a woman from the country so she just yelled until someone came.
The chart at the bottom of the bed had this.....
"Problem: Patient calls out in bath.
Solution: Patient counselled to use the call feature."

On anothe roccasion she fell and smashed her knee cap. After lying on a trolley for 8 hours they say, 'We can't get a doctor, you'll have to go home.' Not even a cup of tea.

She wasn't very surprised...she knew very well what this world is like. But when her oxycodone was reestablished after ENORMOUS effort, she was SO angry with them that she told them it had made her sick and to never give her that stuff again. And that is one of the problems. When people are sick they need others to look out for them.

I do have to say that the ER here is wonderful hence I avoid the docs that aren't any good and go there and yes it is costly to society but the best care is there. Love Phillipa

I don't know about New York Law, but I think this may rise to negligent homocide.

In my heart, though I know no charges will be filed.

So sad.

Sorry to be such a downer, but this is really bothering me.

Seldom

All I know is that I was Nationally Certified in Psch when working and a psychotic patient is never left alone. Staff is not allowed to admit until the patient is accompanied by staff of the psych unit after receiving admission order from the doc then a formal admission is done and immediately when the patient arrives with staff on the unit pdoc is called for further order if warranted And an EKG was immediately done and labs.. Can't admit a patient Without doctor's orders . Did she have them? Did someone assess her first? Sickening and definitely as I also worked as an expert witness in court for various cases a law suit in my opinion is a must. That's my personal opinion. Love Phillipa

I couldn't agree with you *more*! The images...the story has been weighing heavy in my heart for days, and I've been emailing this story to everybody and anybody. It makes me mad, then deeply, deeply sad, and overall just the complete disregard for the human life of this women. *Everyone*...yes...*****Everyone***** is created and deserves to be treated fair and equal under the eyes of God. These people have shown how little value they have for human life. That, is indeed, probably the saddest act a human can perform.
