You know Anthony and the Johnstones came here with Coca Rosie, another weird and wonderful New York band and I missed them.

I hear that he is even more wonderful in performance.

You have a national living treasure.

I've been having an obsessive search on YouTube for music, which -- while not as spiritual as what you posted -- has sounded quite lovely to my nostalgic ears. Here are four links, two to a band from NEAR your neck of the woods -- that is, they're Kiwis, but that's closer to you than to me, eh?

The Lorelei was a Rhine maiden, like a siren:

Same band, different song:

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a decent vid of them performing either song... I love this band, but figure most of their music would be -- maybe not generally enjoyed?

And the Kiwis...

Listen to the lyrics -- I find them rather profound. Maybe because I'm watching the wrinkles grow deeper and noticing varicose veins...

This one I just somehow like. I think it's the "answer to a prayer, time after time, year after year" part... Or maybe just the lyrics, again...

Sigi, I'm very sorry if you are annoyed at having the sublime reduced to the mundane. I guess I just had an impulse to share with everyone...

i am pretty sure that Coca Rosie came her for SouthXSouthWest last year. i can't deal with crowds, so will never go....missed Van Morrison in 2oo6 and missed Bob D. in 2007. BUT, i've seen Bob many times and didn't feel so bad...

Van Morrison came back recently and the tickets were $950.00.so much for all of his blathering about the "little man".

I saw the Pogues 20 years ago, though I don't remember it that well. Did Shane McGowan(?) perform with a walking stick? (Maybe I read that.) When I can work out why this computer's settings on youtube revert to mute I will be able to listen to those links.

And if you listen now
You might hear
A new sound coming in
As an old one disappears
See the world in just one grain of sand
You better take a closer look
Don't let it slip right thru your hand
Won't hou please hear the call
The world says
CHORUS
Put the message in the box
Put the box into the car
Drive the car around the world
Until you get heard
Now is the moment
Please understand
The road is wide open
To the heart of every man
A few simple words
So a mule could understand
He don't want tomorrow
If it's just crumbling into sand
Won't please hear the call
She says
CHORUS
Until you get heard
The World says
Give a little bit
Give a little bit of your love to me
Cos I'm waiting right here with my open arms
Give a little bit
Give a little bit of your soul to me
Cos I'm waiting to behold your many charms
Is that love in the air?
She says
CHORUS
Until you get heard
Until you get heard
Until you get heard
Until you get heard

World Party
