New Job is absolutly draining

Posted by your#1fan on January 9, 2008, at 12:26:32

I am so exhausted from today, i worked a 8 hour shift, 12:30 to 8:30 and my gosh i am slammered down with exhaustion. And have this same schduel for the rest until next week when CLASSES start, oh god, i dont know how im going to make it. It was hecketick today, its going to get worse on friday. But REST is what i need. No doubt this job pays 6.00$ US an hour, i got suckered into a place is crazy, books going this way and that way, customers, going back and forth checking books.

Oh goodness its not really worth forward looking to. I think i need to really be prepared tommorow.

Wish me luck, and i took Deplin 7.5mg it gave me a bit of energy, thats what it mainly does, gives me energy, not a mood boost at all.

Ill keep this one temp., but it pays awful and its almost as fast pase as UPS. Im applying at UPS soon.

But besides that, lost some weight, feel drained, but still hanging in here. But this morning i was so depressed to wake up today, i just had this agonzing feeling not to wake up, i just dont want to deal with life sometimes. Well.....not that important but maybe some advice?

Ill be on tommorow night.

Thanks

tired fan

Check out your options. I have found that I sometimes have more options than I realized. Can you just quit the job and rest until classes start? If you totally crash you may find it difficult to function at all.

Just a thought: you could always look into two, slower paced part-time jobs to make up for the one full-time one with hours that you can work in a rest period (or even day off) in between.

You also may want to consider the fact that this is a new job, which means stress, which can exhaust you. Once you get the routine down, maybe it won't seem so overwhelming.

I feel for you with the school and full time job thing - I've been there. Its hard, I won't lie to you, but it is possible if you can find the right combo of work, school, and home life. But it takes perseverance, so you have to keep trying. I found I did better with jobs that didn't have as much interaction with people (esp the general public). Something like date entry, filing or working in the storeroom at a retail place. Some people hate that though and would rather interact with people all day. It just depends on you.

Have you checked out jobs on campus? They tend to understand the whole student thing better than most. Plus you can go right from work to class, or class to work - no travel time. UPS sounds good too, I've heard they pay well. I hope you get to try that.

Another thing to consider is to take a class or a short term training program that will help you to develop a skill that will get you a half way decent job through school. It doesn't have to be your life's ambition, but a little training may give you an opportunity for a better paying, more tolerable job.

Let us know how it goes. You're just starting out, so don't give up!

Oh heck yeah! There's a lot of physical responses to stress - having your muscles tense up & being on edge, not to mention whats going on in your head! It means being out of your comfort zone. Its exhausting!
