I think I am infected w/something.
SOMEthing is running in the background and slowing my computer.
If I do the control/alt/delete thing, it shows CPU usage, no program is running but it spikes up to 100% off and on...
I did the panda software scan.
I tried houscall again but explorer just shuts down all by itself instantly when i try to run its free scan?
Is there others?
Is there recommended ones to buy?
I dunno what to do????
ANY help would be appreciated. I'm not very compouter literate, but I learn fast.
Even a suggested good website thats not too technical to help me?

I assume you rebooted? Sometimes my computer decides to do some internal task while I'm working on it, and there's nothing to be done but reboot.
It isn't really safe to be out here without antivirus software, though. Even if this time isn't caused by a virus.

I do have spyware/antivirus with my internet provider that is on all the time, updates itself, and I do reg full scans as well.
I have dowmloaded a free trial of A squared. It found nothing, but I have it running all the time as well and seems to not conflict with my other one.
So......hopefully I'm covered!
I do do scans quite often, yeah, I AM a little paranoid!

Muffled what are you running, operating system, XP and what is your computer. Have you cleaned your disks lately and have you compacted your files, oh what is that called, defragmented. And in your browser you need to deleted some history too every now and then or it will run slower. Check the performance of your computer and it will tell you how to improve its speed. If you don't have a virus or spyware then you need to clean up the internal files and stuff that might be slowing it down. rk
