well it's 22c(72f) in the middle of winter for today and tomorrow, and I live in the cold part of Australia. What going on in Melbourne it's just plain weird. Would that ever happen in DC or NY during Feb, I live at the same latitude?

Further north, we've had 20 C (68 F) in Ontario, in February. That's a continental climate. There's a wind-driven warming effect from Chinook winds on the eastern face of the mountains, out west, that can raise the temp by 30 or even 40 C in a matter of hours (often hitting the 20s), but that's cheating. ;-)
I checked the temp records for Cental Park in NYC, and there have been a number of records in the 70s F, in February. Strange and rare, no doubt.

Babble buddy says it's l0 plus in Syndney. Phillipa. In NC can be in 60 one minute 50's or 40's the next.
