cymbalta free

Posted by rskontos on August 23, 2007, at 14:45:18

Hi guys, just wanted to let you know I have been cymbalta free since January of this year. It has been tough but I am working through it. When my grandmother died I went through another withdrawal episode with the brain zaps and some mini-seizures, and the bad rash. I have mini-seizures that cymbalta started up, I had a bad concussion when I was 10 and had outgrown the seizures but during tapering off cymbalta they started back. My daughter's neurologist I finally went to see and she upped my topamax, I was taking it for migraines, to help control the petite mal seizures or absences seizures. It does for the most part except during a flare up as I call them. I have also been in talking therapy for panic attacks. Which has helped tremendously as I refused to go back on anything else due to my cymbalta experience. I have a rare form of collitis, that cymbalta flared up in a bad way, landed me in the hospital. So I can related to all of you. The depression that landed me in cymbalta land is being helped by the therapy and understanding of myself. I have good days and bad days. More good now than bad. If I can help anyone please ask me. I tapered off of it and it was so hard but I did it. I used supplements which I still take, I use therapy to replace it, my neuro told me that tapering is a must due to the way it affects the brain. She has alot of experience with AD since they cause seizures with cymbalta being the number 1 culprit. Anyway, good luck to all, and I am here to help if you need support. One day at a time and the supplements will help plus patience. The neuro says the brain will heal itself but it takes time. So give yourself the time and trust your body to heal itself. Give yourself some support systems too to help. RKontos Cymbalta free since January 07

Yes, and thanks. I went on Omega three, benedryl to help with the brain zaps and fatigue. Benedryl mimics cymbalta in the brain so it helps when you are de-toxing and won't make you sleepy. Magnesium 1000mg. for calming you down since I noticed I had bouts of rage and crying sometimes at the same time. Oh the omega 4000 mg this will help with depression. In Europe they are using Omega three for depression to help treat it. I think it is working. My depression is for the most part gone. Just every now and then. My panic attacks are manaegeable. I at least understand them and the source. B-12, taken under the tongue, sublingually, 500 mg. this is good for the central nervous system. These I started with, I was also on evening primrose oil and topamax which helped with the brain zaps, I still got them they just weren't so painful. I had it all still just. Brain zaps, two different rashes that were so bad, the flu-like symtoms, rage, blurry vision, memory loss, the shakes, depression, thoughts of suicide, panic attacks, aches in my legs, feet, hips so bad I went to an orthopedic surgeon, and gastro distress so bad I went into the hospital. But the supplements began to help. One in particular I added was Power Barley Formula which is a green powder you drink in water that helps the liver de-tox. You see that is what we are all doing det-ox off cymbalta. My neurologist confirmed this. She said the brain is dependent on it to make three different chemicals. No matter how short the time you take it, the brain depends on it to function and make those chemicals. When you go off, the brain must re-build and restore itself. How long is up to each individual. Plus cymbalta lives in tissue so it can take a long time for the liver to rid your body of it. Tsk Tsk so much no one tells the unsuspecting patient to be!!!!!

Did the l000mg of magnesium affect your bowels? I was on cymbalta twice must have been lucky as I just went off it but no ad seems to work well. I was a natural vitamin freak for years and felt great . My preference was Shaklee. Phillipa

The doctor that helped me with the supplements says that mag will affect them at first but that your system should stablize quickly. Mag is best for the central nervous system. It helps you be calmer and sleep better and the bowel thing is only temporary. If you suffer with headaches it will help them too. Start with 250 or 500 and work up to 1000. I have collitis very badly and it doesn't affect it. Cymbalta itself will affect the bowels not necessarily the mag. Try to up the Omega to 4000 over time and see if that doesn't help alot with the depression if that is your problem. If panic attacks are your issue no AD works well. my neuro says lexapro seems to be the best for panic attacks and generalized anixety issues. In europe they are having a lot of success with Omega helping with depression. If you are missing it in your diet which America is by not eating fish, then depression is a sympton. Try one from nordic naturals you can get it online or by phone and it is lemon flavor and you won't burp it. I take it on an empty stomach as I hate breakfast.www.omega-direct.com is the website. I take 2 in the am and 2 at night. It was a life-saver. If you do have issues with your bowels let me know as a collitis suffer and ABS sufferer I have the product to help. It also helps with detoxing off ad's. Hope this helps. Also talking therapy helps witht the depression. I chose that versus going on another one. Getting off cymbalta was so hard that I didn't want another serotioin(misspelled) re-uptaker which most of the ad's are they are hard to get off you have to de-tox and that can be hard for a lot of people me included so I tried therapy. It had worked for me.
Vitamins and minerals are great and I agree with you. We need them with our diets and food supple being what it is. Rhonda

I have a great product for Irritable Bowel which I have had issues with in the past which is now preceded to a rare form of collitis. It is called Power Barley Formula and you can get on www.globaldnasolutions.com. It isn't cheap but lasts a long time. I bought mine in Feb and still have 1/2 of a container. When you have an attack you can mix up one scoop in water and in 10 -15 minutes the attack, the pain etc will be GONE!!!! I have recommended it to a lot of people who have been helped by it. It is coats the stomach and intestines and slows down the absorption into them and it helps the liver de-tox. It is the best. When I first started it I was having 17-18 bouts of diarrhea a day. Yes 17 to 18 and this continued for 8 weeks before I went to the hospital. Anyway after many tests and drugs I stopped taking and started this. This specialist said I would be on immodium the rest of my life. I said no I wouldn't and searched the internet and found this Barley Powder. At first I took it once to twice a day and now I only take when needed. It works and it helped with getting off cymbalta. Try it you won't be sorry especially if you have issues with IBS. Rhonda
