Don't mention the coke.

Posted by Sigismund on June 28, 2007, at 20:28:02

Say what you like about Paris, her deportment today was modest and elegant, and she showed in her words and demeanor that she is ready to shoulder the burden of being a role model for young women.

It's not her fault if she makes a few dozen million out of this unfortunate affair.
The main point is that she has grown as a person.

i know im not trying to be pessimistic but im waiting for her to break again and go partying.

But i could be wrong she could be serious, well semiserious.

Now about the role models, i swear if i hear the word "paris" even the county im going to scream. Paris Paris Paris Paris, god this is similar to madonna's contervery which was bigger in the early 90's everywhere in the paper.

In a way some of me believed her...........when i was watching larry king, and some of it didnt, she seemed mellow, i mean not putting her down, but she may have some intentions of doing good, but i doubt this will be the last time she gets in trouble.

Especially for someone who is 26.

Thankyou for your reply, Matt.

I was very impressed when she said that she had never used illegal drugs.

That showed real class and more importantly, a deep understanding of contemporary culture.

I take it Paris Hilton left some rehab today. I don't watch the news anymore and Paris is the least of my problems what about yours? Love Phillipa

It truly is movinghto know that despite the terrible experience of being in jail, Paris has come to know "who she is." Because she has taken this opportunity to reflect upon herself. That, as well as her non-use of illegal substances of any sort, shows her deep appreciation for contemporary culture. She will be a wonderful role model for women/girls everywhere. And her appearance of Larry King, was, I'm sure, of tremendous cultural significance. How lucky for us.

It is, as I say, so very moving.

I guess her pot smoking doesn't qualify for drug use. It doesn't in my book but she's not being honest.
If she's going to be a role model for young girls it's going to be difficult to overcome a porn tape
online.
I wish her the best though. I was 26 long ago and wild as hell.

oh-- me too. I mean, we don't need to have seen the show. We just "know." That's because Paris Hilton "is* the spirit of the age-- and we don't need to do anything. We just know.

Eeeeee..gawd. You want heartbreak? I just finished reading a book about a musician who lost his only child, his 19 year old daughter, one year in a car accident, then the next year his wife gets cancer and dies. THAT is soulbreaking, heartwrenching. The thing is, he has carried on...although it took a few years for him to ever come out in public again. During his "grief", he motorcycled all across North America, from the Yukon down to Mexico. He said he had to do something, or he wouldn't have been able to survive. The book tells of 3 years on lonely, desolate, cold roads, on his motorbike, and all of the heartbreaking moments, tears, and grief along the way. And you think Paris Hilton had it 'hard'? Geesshh..give me a f*cking break!!

Jay

p.s. the book is called "Ghost Rider : Travels on the Healing Road" by Neil Peart

I don't think her plan to "use her fame for good" is going to work. People love hating her too much. I read somewhere that our society just needs a dumb, sexualized woman to hate, and she's "it" for us now. She can't control her media image. It's bigger than she is.

I do know from watching "The Daily Show" that Larry King had scheduled Michael Moore and bumped him to do an hour with Paris. Close call! We almost had an hour of airtime devoted to a discussion of the ways Americans "fully covered" by for-profit health insurance are often denied essential procedures or face financial ruin.

It doesn't need to work for long

>People love hating her too much.
I certainly do

>I read somewhere that our society just needs a dumb, sexualized woman to hate, and she's "it" for us now.
Dumb and sexualised woman to hate? Maybe yes. Of course she might starts to act smart?

>She can't control her media image. It's bigger than she is.
Too right. Crazy lot us humans.

Just as well *that* kind of stuff has been kept off the airwaves.
We seem to be dealing with something important here.
But what?

Jay, I do feel sad when I think about Paris.
(I'm like everybody else?)
I envy her capacity to make money and I envy her drug regime.
I even (God help me) envy her social life.

Hello Merri
We're not supposed to do scarcasm here, so I'm doing something else.
It's like a Leonard Cohen song here
'It's four in the morning....'
So you're back?

Everyone knows that if she said it on tv

it must be the truth--surely. Besides, anyone who can do so well on a diet of alcohol and lip gloss certainly deserves to be a role model.
