I was OK at the museum until someone asked me how to see the second image in a surrealist painting. My contact lenses nearly popped out of my head looking for the dead president's face hidden in it. I advised the patron to walk around for a bit and then come back and try again... then I looked around for help and got the "not my job" line. Those poor people have no idea what's been unleashed on them.

How about one is allowed to be tired one day and take a nap? My husband travels for a few days and has to sleep for a few to make up for it. Seems like a natural reaction to stress. If he doesn't make the time to relax he gets sick with a cold; you can almost predict it. So now, I insist that he snooze on the sofa and channel surf after he's been away.
I hope your bite feels better soon.

That has kind of kept me quiet. Plus I am still very depressed, showing mostly as apathy. I keep checking back here for new posts but haven't even felt like I can offer much support to anyone at the moment.

I'm giving it one more day (and I'll ask for *something* to do while I look for admission stickers). If I still don't like the people there, I'll tell them I'm not coming back. Also, the artist whose collection the museum houses (Salvador Dali) wasn't a very likable person, IMO. Hard to be enthusiastic about someone you respect but don't like. Maybe my head is just screwed on crooked about this position, but it doesn't feel right.

The science centre I had been helping out at called me to come in. The job had ended with the school year, but I had offered to come in any time. I just mentioned to my T today that I called 2 weeks ago to repeat my offer to work. I know that things happen when they are supposed to happen, and not a minute before.And...
I have been cleaning my little stretch of the beach on my morning walks for the past few days. I take an empty bag and a rubber glove with me. I must sound like a madwoman right about now, but I went to an environmental panel discussion about the oceans on Saturday night. And I'm trying to help heal the Mother, you know? So this is my bit. This weekend there's a local, coordinated effort to clean a bayou that's been neglected for 10 years. 2 pairs of gloves.On a very basic level, volunteering is so much easier than having to contemplate going to work. It's been 2 years since I quit due to depression. This way I am able to contribute somewhere where I already know I'm wanted.
I feel less crappy today than I did yesterday.

Gulf-o-Mexico with every other ex-pat Canadian in Florida. Central coast, with dolphin sightings and everything. It's very, very wonderful. I feel guilty for being depressed while living here.

Anyway people will pronounce Sigismund without sounding the S as a Z, which will spoil the effect.

I got a couple of interesting shoes too.
(It's why I hate shopping.)
They were both absurdly expensive and quite interesting and innapropriate.
One is a Danish moccasonny thingo, white with black stripes (how do I carry that off?), and the other is a shoe designed to make you walk like a Massai tribesman and engage your core stability.
You need lessons from an physio in how to walk in them, and can get it under your belt in a couple of months.
Like walking with a sawn off rolling pin under each foot.I need a shopping assistant.

(ok, you got me, i can't leave it at that, though i'm highly tempted to. my duckie learned to walk. he walks just like me. and we both have the bruises to prove it. he's got a nasty one on his forehead, and i'm left with this horrible guilt that runs through my head over and over again saying 'why can't you move quicker without falling? that bruise is YOUR fault. besides, he only walks on tiptoes because he sees you doign it. as well, you shoudln't be wearing heels all the time, that only adds to his confusion.' then, i get this contradiction in my head that says, 'well, he'll have unfrickinbelievable fashionsense!' the devil on my shoulder shows up yet again and says 'well you're wrong yet again, as your fashion sense is just a bit off and he's going to be the only one at the party wearing canary yellow pants when everyone else is shirtless!')
of course zeppelin, you're always welcome to change your mind about marrying me. i've change my mind several times and decided against marrying myself. but boy oh boy can that duckie run! it's a glorious thing to see him run on tip toes, but when he falls, he falls pretty damn hard, leaving him with a bruise and me with all these guilt issues. perhaps we'll attend mother/son therapy when he begins preschool? (and i still prefer demund, but it's your name :) you can call me anything but skank.. too bad hussy's taken, as i really like that one.)
