I saw in a magazine today the pictures of Tyra in her swimsuit, and then I heard a news report of her slamming the critics of her 'fat' body. What do you all think? As the presenter of a model competition is it her 'duty' to maintain her model size figure? Or are the critics wrong to make a fuss over her 'normal' size?

I think Tyra Banks looks fine the way she is. Whatever she is comfortable and happy with. I work in the media and I can tell you that I personally applaud her for standing up and saying 'Hey, this is my body and I'm happy with it' GOOD FOR HER!!!! I think the media drops the ball when it comes to promoting healthy self image for young women. I am a former anorexic who grew up idealizing pictures in magazines of models starving themselves. Now, I take the pictures of the models and I applaud anyone who dares to stand up for themselves. YOU GO TYRA!!! :)

I love that picture! It shows her in a swimsuit looking perfectly normal sized with the caption saying, "160lbs, does this look fat to you?"

For a fat person, she's awfully thin. She weighs 160 lbs in that photo. (PS-- I was in the supermarket recently-- which is the Only reason I've seen it)
Are you sure she weighed 160 lbs in that photo????
I mean she's not that tall. I'm not convinced.

Thats what it said (I was in the supermarket too when I saw it). The reason I loved it was because I've always weighed heavier than I look. When I was anorexic and way too thin the lowest I weighed was 130. At 160 I look pretty average. Unfortunately I'm not there right now.

I agree, she looks perfectly healthy and beautiful. She's a brave lady to go on air in her swimsuit. Who are these people that say she's fat when the general population seem to think she's ok? Is it men?

Though I can understand her anger with her weight being judged by the media, I believe she displayed a complete lack of class and composure in her statement to "kiss my fat *ss". Completely classless.

I especially like that she admitted to weighing 160lbs. Nobody admits to weighing that much! Especially a model! But she looks fine! They usually say "ooh I'm so overweight I weigh 125lbs. I'm plus size!" She says in the article that she's always weighed more than average. I've always been the same way. Even when I was anorexic and way too thin (according to everyone else) I weighed 130lbs. Some people just weigh more. But I never felt like it was okay because all you ever heard about was these size 0 models who weigh 100 lbs.

Look, I'm not familiar with this Tyra Banks person, but it might be possible that she is simultaneously too fat and too thin.
