Home from my trip - pictures

Posted by wishingstar on January 16, 2007, at 16:24:08

I made it come from Florida late Sunday night, and got back to my apartment yesterday. Spent Sunday night at my parents house rather than making the two hour drive home after the flight.

Overall, I had a nice time. I'm in Va, and it's pretty chilly here (although nothing to some parts of the country, I know) so the 75 degree weather was wonderful. I laid out on the beach and in an odd moment of confidence, even wore the bikini a friend had given me. Had a mixed drink next to the pool. Very relaxing. My depression seemed to stay away for the most part while I was there, except for a few fleeting moments, which was GREAT. I needed a little time to recharge. Since I've gotten home, I feel myself sliding back down to baseline, but it's okay. I enjoyed it while it lasted.

I was there for a professional conference to present 2 posters on some work a professor and I did. I hung them up and mostly avoided them otherwise.. I didnt want to be asked any questions by these MD/PhD people that I knew I'd never be able to answer. The presentation was more for my advisor, who is disabled and unable to travel, than for me anyway. This is her thing, not mine.

My hotel was right on the beach and had this walkway straight out of the hotel, across the street, and landed you right on the sand. Amazing. I had a small balcony on my room and if you looked out to the right, there was marina, and to the right, the beach.

I uploaded 10 or 15 pictures, if anyone cares to see. Maybe it will be a little reprive for some of you who have probably been slammed by ice and snow (or at least cold) here recently. I wish I could have taken you all along - it would have been more fun if I wasnt alone.

In another crazy moment (this seems to be a pattern?) I put a couple pictures of me at the end, in case anyone is interested. Theyre on the second page. Yes, I look 12. I'm not. :) I'm 24. Dont be fooled. I still get carded for R-rated movies occasionally.

Hi wishingstar,

I'm glad your trip went well. I checked out your photos. Very nice. They put you up in a great spot. Nice view of the water. I live just north of Ft. Lauderdale. The weather down here has been really nice this season. I'm glad the conference went well and you got home safely.

Be well! :)

Regards,
happykat

Looked like a good break. You look so young.

Austin is a frozen popcicle tonight so the beach looks good.

Still, I'm going to have to check your ID. : )

Phil

Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you had fun and enjoyed the sunshine. Don't apologize for your youth and pretty face - - enjoy it! It's a good thing.

You might have been surprised by how much you actually know. In grad school I sometimes made a pest of myself at poster sessions by provoking conversations between underconfident grad students and other conference attendees, and they've always discovered that they actually do know more about work they participated in than many people folks they find intimidating.

I'm glad you had a nice respite... I should try that sometimes. And I'm also glad you posted pictures of yourself - you're super-cute! :)

1) I don't think you look 12
