Hey Glydin, I saw in another post you typed what I'll call curvy dashes. I was trying to make those marks earlier today, and my keyboard doesn't have them.
I'm using what used to be a laptop. Is that shape on regular keyboards, or does it take a key sequence or some such?
anybody know what I'm talking about?

--I'll have to figure out how to do that figure. What letter or key is it on? My system is crazy. An old physically damaged compaq laptop with an older rehabilitated hp moniter - stripped down and hooked to cable broad band.
I'm cheap in strange ways.

The funny part is that a guy who doesn't know what a tilde is or where on the keyboard in front of his face it is, was needing it to find files on his computer to delete them so he could make his windows 98 run faster.
I was on annoyance.org. Running before I could walk. I've had a home computer for less than a year now.

... I'm kinda partial to the ellipsis ... hmm, then again ... anyone ever see an interrobang? They're pretty cool ....

>Weird punctuation marks can have the coolest names.
btw... for those who wonder whether you want to say ?! or !?, the interrobang is your best friend. Imagine being on a old typewriter ... type a ?, hit the backspace, then type a ! over the ? so they're in the same spot. That's an interrobang. And very few computer fonts support it.
And they call all this electronic stuff "progress"?!

But !? is so different from ?!. Esp. in chess.
Where ?!! is probably a bad move, but certainly could be strong, at least at first glance.
whereas !!? is a terrific move, although not entirely orthodox and possibly leading to complications not necessarily in favor of whoever !!?-ed.

I can't find it in Character Map, which is my usual source of amazing characters. :-(
But that mention of old typewriters reminds me... I used to type an ampersand then backspace and type a forward slash &/ and it makes a cellist. I thought that was pretty cool back when I was 11.

Yeah, you need two things:
1) a font with it
2) a display program that supports something called Unicodearial ain't it, the script that runs this board ain't it, and I'm pretty sure IE ain't it either (tho Firefox prolly is).
This is the end of the thread.
