Yo Deneb - what about this type of self-talk:

great - now I'll get the biopsy to reiterate (or emphasize or some other positive word) the doctors' diagnosis of NOT Cancer.

I hope it won't hurt too much. I'm a big wimp when it comes to pain.

My appointment is on Monday. I'm having it done in a cancer centre. How scary is that? Me, in a cancer centre!

Now I'm worried they will give me a pneumothorax because my breasts are small and when I lie down, you can't even tell I have breasts.

I have a lot of health anxiety. I'm getting some support on a health anxiety site. It's much better than the breast cancer support site. People on the health anxiety (HA) site really understand me. There are lots of people like me there. I can write about my fears over and over again and people understand. I'm very glad I found that site.

It didn't hurt at all. The fine needle aspiration biopsy hurt, but this didn't. It didn't even hurt when the doc injected me with anesthetic.

Now I have to wait 8-10 days for the results. The radiologist said my lump is a fibroadenoma. It's good to know that everyone who has seen my lump says it's a fibroadenoma.

Great that that's over & I'm so glad it didn't hurt.

Hope you can just relax & await your confirmation that everything is OK!!!!!! ;-)

I'm not thinking about it much, but in October I have to have a skin cancer removed. It's the very least problematic kind to have. Just had the specialist look at it a few weeks ago & he said that this kind grows VERY slowly & does NOT spread.

I guess I'm improving in my cancer-worry, come to think of it, because I believe him & am not worried.

EXCEPT about the freezing needle. It's where ny nose meets my face, just above the round part of my nostril. There was a - well - I don't know how to decribe it, but almost like a pimple that would bleed as I washed my face, etc. It didn't heal & my fam. doc. has told me in the past that's one thing to definitely be aware of. I avoided paying attention to it for a couple of months...went to fam. doc. He gave me cream which helped immensely but didn't totally heal it. I returned to fam. doc. & he said it was so small that he didn't know what they'd do anyway, but I said I definitely wanted his referral to a specialist.

Specialist said it was - I think it was basal cell cancer or something - not serious, but that he'd like to remove it.

I said that when it didn't heal I knew I wanted it checked by a dermatologist. He said, "Smart lady!!" I didn't tell him that my doctor had pretty well said, Don't worry about it!!!!

I have visions of the freezing causing pain to shoot up into my eye!!!!!!!!!!!! wimper. I'm doing pretty well in not thinking about it.

Your post scared me. Sorry. I like to hear that there is nothing to worry about. I don't even want to consider that the news might not be good. It's part of my health anxiety.

The radiologist said that they don't usually biopsy lumps that looked like mine. She said they do it when the patient insists on it.

You are simply (and ONLY) waiting for their confirmation of what you've already been told hun.

This is just that one little extra step to put your mind at ease. As you said, they don't even usually do this - ONLY to put particular patient's minds at ease.

Deneb a radiologist or surgeon usually can tell right away if it's cancer or not. A noncancerous lump has well defined borders. A cancer is not round. And a fiboadenoma is usally round and encapsulated. I'm sure you've already googled it. But if not set your mind at ease and do. And I'm lated on my follow-up mammogram that I had calcification . Calcification is ususally non cancerous too but it can change. They put a marker in my breast to see if it grows and if there is more calcification. Love Phillipa

Another thing Deneb. Doctors do NOT want to get sued! They don't want a lawsuit. If there were a chance of cancer, I strongly suspect they'd word their conclusions differently!

Once I had some test & included in the report was the fact that there was thickening of the lining of the uterus of a type possible in cancer, or something like that.

When I had my appointment with the gynocologist, he sighed, said, "Oh boy" & proceeded to tell me that thickening of the uterus was TOTALLY normal for a woman my age re menopause, etc. He said, that yes - now he HAD to do a D & C (remove the thickened lining) & that the professional who'd read the test & written up the report was simply protecting him/herself from any possibility of being sued if somewhere down the road I did develop uterine cancer. He said there was absolutely NO reason to do a D & C! It happened that I wanted to get my tubes tied anyway, so it didn't matter.

I just wanted to tell you that so it'd give you another angle to look at it from.

I suspect they do, but because I was going to be 'out' for the other, they did it from inside.

I think they try to avoid giving general anaesthetic whenever they can.

I was supposed to have a mammogram last year, but I've been putting it off. My doc said she likes to have a baseline done around 35, so they have something to compare it to at 40. Plus, I've had some extenuating circumstances that could be a bad sign (that I don't really want to reveal to EVERYONE). I'm not consciously avoiding it, I just never think of it during the day. I'm good at that type of avoidance.

I know you don't believe me, but i think of you as a friend Deneb. Even if you aren't able to say a word in person, I still feel you are my friend. Sorry, i'm a bit drunk and getting sappy. But it doesn't mean I don't mean it. You are one cool chic.

No word yet. I'm supposed to get the results in 8-10 days. I'm not sure if day 1 is the day of the biopsy. Is so, tomorrow is the 8th day. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if there is any word.

You won't avoid it now right? ;-) Feel free to Babblemail me about it. I've read up some about breast stuff and maybe I can reassure you.

Aw-w-w, Deneb love.

Sorry, I get very affectionate when drinking. Its not that I don't mean it, its just that under normal circumstances I wouldn't actually say it! I really do feel a connection with you. Not in a lesbian way or anything, but... you know (hopefully).

Still no word on biopsy :-( *trigger*

I got my biopsy on July 31st and it's been 14 weekdays and there still has been no word. The doctor didn't call while I was on my trip. Today the office is closed. The doctor who did my biopsy said the results would be in in 8-10 days. I'm assuming weekdays.

I had a bad dream while I was on my trip. I dreamt that the results came back and I have breast cancer. I'm scared.

I'm thinking of the worst. If I have breast cancer, I've had it for a very long time. I found my lump in Jan. and it's now the end of Aug. and I still don't know whether or not I have cancer. The anxiety comes and goes. Right now it's back again.

I hope I get my results tomorrow. I'm giving them my work number. I need my results! If I have cancer, I need treatment ASAP! Aaaahhh. I don't want to die yet! I think I'm dying and no one cares. If I start suffering I'm going to have to kill myself.
