I bought new PJs

Posted by Daisym on July 31, 2006, at 0:37:49

I'm going to go to camp comfort for real in a few days and visit Fallsfall. I bought some new PJs, which are very soft and I'd like to basically just stay in the whole time. I need a few more suggestions of things I can take to comfort and soothe...and read.

And I'd like to take a bunch of messages to her as well. So, fellow babblers, need a little help.

Thanks
Daisy

Will you give Falls a big hug from llrrrpp?

I think she's so kind and insightful. Got me through a few rough patches, for which I will always be grateful.

(((Falls)))

I have a satin eyemask which is nice for travelling. Sometimes I wear it on the plane when the person next to me is itching to blab my ear off. You never know if Fall's place will have dark curtains or whatnot.

I also think it's nice to have music. I take my iPOD travelling with me. and I have noise-cancelling headphones. nice for sitting and enjoying a quiet moment.

Ice cream, of course :o), and cute travel-size toiletries!

bon voyage!
-ll

Thanks for the reply. I felt sorta sad that no one cared. But that would be me, projecting onto the board.

I'll be sure to remember to take music along. Great idea.
hugs,
Daisy

I found it hard to reply to this. I really needed camp comfort a little while ago but felt like it was very very bad because it's a "fantasy world". I still don't understand if it's a good or bad coping thing to foster.

So I guess just your mention of it was enough to get me antsy and avoiding.

Sorry for that.

I can hear your excitement over your upcoming visit. I hope you both have a wonderfully soothing time and cement your friendship further. I hope you both nourish each others souls.

I'm not sure what you would find comforting on your trip. But I would take my little stuffed whipbird, my T's hanky, my comfort book, a grown up therapy book, my "Got Parts" book which tends to soothe a younger part of me, my sudoku book. I'd also try to take some cut out pictures for my comfort book and some glue.

I think I'd want to take my colouring book and sticker book, but would feel too dumb and self conscious to do so.

I'd also take some clothes I feel comfy in and a big stash of chocolate.

I'm looking at getting a book called "The Silver Boat" which I might find comforting. Have you read it or seen it?

And I'm not sure what message you can take to falls for me. I know her T is going away for a while. I think having you there would be the bestest thing ever. I hope you guys find some fun things to do.

I care! I care!

Sorry - it just takes me forever to post.

Oh how I would love to be there. I bet the two of you are going to have such a nice time together!

Take it easy. Relax. If I was at Camp Comfort I would like to talk and talk and talk. And listen and listen and listen.

As far as books go, I imagine it depends on your mood. But make it an easy read. I loved "The Time Traveler's Wife", but you have to be prepared to cry with that one. No tears? Maybe something funny like "Naked Pictures of Famous People" (That gave me a few belly laughs.)

I might bring my favorite stuffed animal and my blanket. And I'm with littleone on the chocolate thing. The more, the better.

Tell falls I'm glad she's going to have you there with her this weekend. And tell falls to tell you I'm glad you're going to have her with you this weekend. (You followed that, right?) You two are two of my most favorite Babblers in the world. Enjoy being together.

Have a wonderful time!!

Hugs to you both,
Laurie

I think it is OK to take comfort in an imaginary place -- isn't that what books do for us? And look at us -- we are actually figuring out how to create it IRL, at least for a little while. I think ideas often turn into realities, but sometimes not in the way you expect. I wish it was real for you when you really needed it.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I might ask for my therapist's talisman to take. Your hanky reminded me of that.

And I'm sorry I "made" you feel like you had to reply. I was cranky...ignore me.
Hugs.
Daisy

I love this -- what a great Freudian slip!!! Poor little Waif...we will think of you.

I have a Jonathan Kellerman book, ironically called, "Therapy" -- which I haven't read yet. And I have one called "The Hot Flash Club" so I'll probably take those. And I decided to take my lap top, even though that means I'll work. But not a lot!

Thanks for the reply.
Hugs to you,
Daisy

Hi Daisy, just thought I'd mention that I've read both books you mention. If you're after comfort, I wouldn't recommend the Kellerman one. I found it upsetting because he had poor boundaries with his client. It would probably be better to read if you're feeling more adult and secure in your therapy relationship.

"Therapy by Jonathan Kellerman"

I have that one sitting on my shelf with a million others just begging to be read.
