Ten Thoughts to Ponder for 2006

Posted by gardenergirl on June 19, 2006, at 16:01:55

Number 10
Life is sexually transmitted.

Number 9
Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Number 8
Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich.

Number 7
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

Number 6
Some people are like a Slinky.....not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

Number 5
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Number 4
All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Number 3
Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?

Number 2
In the 60s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now The world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

AND THE NUMBER 1 THOUGHT FOR 2006: (deleted)
This was going just fine til I got to number one, which was an insensitive comment on immigration. Bah!

So, insert your own number one, anyone?

And how sick am I that my favorite is number six? :D

Hi gg. Cool post, girl.

My favorite is number 8, which I will choose to be my #1, by replacing "sandwich" with "beer."

I like you, I don't tell you that enough.

It's been brought to my attention somewhat indirectly that aspects of my post might not be civil. I admit that I didn't really think about it when I posted it. I was just tickled. But looking at it today, I can see that some statements are not so cool, and I apologize for posting possibly offensive material. I may be going overboard with my comments below, but I don't want to miss anything.

> Number 9
> Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

"Merely" is too limiting. Of course there's more to good health than this.
>
> Number 8
> Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich.

This is simply not true and is not fair to men, who have a myriad of emotions.

In no way am I referring to Slinky the poster here. And although this made me laugh, in reality and as a humanist, I do not believe that anyone is "not really good for anything".

Health "nuts" could be construed as a derogatory term, and those who work hard at good health are certainly not stupid. Nor should they feel stupid.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what to say about this one other than "weird" and "normal" are subjective terms and may mean different things to different people.

Humor and sarcasm can be hurtful, as zazenduck pointed out elsewhere. I hope this didn't hurt anyone. If so, I do apologize.

I'm as crazy as the next guy (probably crazier)......I can be offended by things others might consider totally benign....but come on.....that list was funny. If we can't laugh at ourselves (and yes, even laugh at someone else occassionally) that would be truly uncivil......I laughed out loud while reading your list....I don't do that near enough. Thanks gg

You're welcome. Thank you for telling me. It's good to laugh out loud. :)
