I'm going to an Indian wedding :-)

Posted by Deneb on June 7, 2006, at 19:07:40

I'm going to a traditional Indian wedding tomorrow morning, bright and early at 7:00 a.m. It's tomorrow at 7 because that is the time and date which will bring good fortune for the couple. My friend is having an arranged marriage. It must be very exciting for her, especially since she only met her fiance about 2 months ago!

The wedding is in a temple. We have to be barefoot and sit on the ground. I'm wearing a long skirt so I can sit cross-legged.

Should I wrap my present in red and gold?

Hi Deneb,

I think you should wrap it in bright red and gold paper. I'm a big fan of Bollywood movies and I loved "Monsoon Wedding." I'd love to go to a real Indian wedding. The food will be incredible.

Wow! That sounds so fun! I love learning about other cultures and I LOVE Indian apparel. I found a quilt/bedspread at World Market that was so beautiful, squares of different shades of purple and blue, with elaborate stitching and beads and what not. I had my nephew with me at the time (he was about 4 or 5) and he asked me why I don't buy it (because I was going on and on about it). I said it was too expensive. He said when he gets bigger he'll buy it for me. Sweetiepie.

I ended up buying a small beaded lamp and some hanging lanterns. They're my favorite decorations other than my Michael Parks prints.

That is just so cool Deneb. I would love that experience. You have a pretty interesting life girl. You try new things. I wish I could have been like that at your age! Its taken me many years just to get a fraction as adventurous as you are. I have alot of admiration for you.

Deneb are you Indian? And that sounds like a great experience. More IRL interraction for you. Love Phillipa

I'm putting the gift in a red gift bag with gold tissue paper and a big shiny gold bow.

I hope they serve Indian food! I hope there will be lots of dancing.

It will be cool going to an Indian wedding, for sure, but my life really isn't interesting at all. LOL

No, I'm not Indian, which will make this experience that much more interesting for me. It will give me a chance to interact more IRL.

I just saw my friend's photo album from a wedding whe went to in India (she's not Indian).

It looks amazing!

The flowers, and the glitter!

The dresses, and the food!

I'm sure you will do just fine- write us back and tell us all about it. :)
