a song dedicated to someone

Posted by alesta on April 17, 2006, at 19:59:19

who means more than they think...can't find the words to say...so i'll post some lyrics. (it's a trend, ya know..:))

"The Reason"

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you

love,:)

Well all I can say is that someone is very lucky.

I'm actually listening to 'The Reason' CD and that track specifically as I type this.

Still, I hope the best reason you ever have to change anything is you.

Thanks for being my friend. As loath as I am to quote Billy Joel:

"Don't go changing to try and please me, you never let me down before."

hi damos,:)

i *loved* your post. i'm having a rough day and don't feel like posting much..although ironically i have *so much* to say lol...but
came here to seek refuge from a stressful day (in lurker mode, of course :-))...and felt compelled to let you know how much your post means to me.

and perhaps you sense that sometimes i feel like i need to be what others want me to be...the disease to please lol. (perhaps because i had to be everything for mummy dearest, exactly what she wanted/needed or i'd be 'in trouble', but that's absolute conjecture) but just lately i am doing *much* better with that...although everything (life) feels really confusing lately. it is so nice to know that you will like me no matter what...i cannot tell you...you struck a chord, damos.:) how did you know? or am i just reading way too far into your post lol...don't let me get too deep..no need to reply to any of this if it doesn't resonate..:)

love,
aim

dear aimee,

not only do you have the sense to honor Sir Damos as he deserves to be (he is the most chivalrous figure I know)you must be psychic (I must say that Sir D. is correct in ALL he says too):
>>
and perhaps you sense that sometimes i feel like i need to be what others want me to be...the disease to please lol. >>

since we are on the topic of songs, this is what I am hearing now:

To please is a curse, and worse
At parties I'm bitter
Get presented
Am bitter - a civilian policeman
Five smiles - I'm bitter
Get presented
With the pence, the reckless pence
Go to aid Halifax copter
To please is the curse and nurse
To please is the curse at worst

yes, unless you please YOURSELF- that is the way you will please others- because- you are- so- pleasing-

hi z,:)
you are a sweetie..:) thanks for your input..that was nice!:-) yeah, sometimes i am psychic (you know me pretty well), but in this case, i know damos was really just referring to the song, when he was telling me not to change...i don't know why i was asking him how he knew that...i was having a mentally 'off' day...loaded up on the wrong kind of allergy meds right now, which makes me quite 'out of it' *and* irritable *and* depressed, 'cause i can't afford the kind of med that semi-works for me...i hope to get off this sh*t soon...my self-esteem suffers when i can't think right...i am so hard on myself...put a lot of pressure on myself to know things...i get one thing wrong and i deem myself an idiot, lol...:) i know there are others here like that..

ok...sorry..i'm having a couple of off days...feeling a bit angry about things, which is *very* uncharacteristic of me. i've been told i'm very calm and peaceful normally. things are very confusing all of a sudden, and i hate that...i had to attend church the other day (owe on a loan and trying to get help with it), and, i hated every minute of it. and i am still recovering my previous world-view...

am so sorry to go on...am leaning more on ppl lately...something i usually don't do. i don't know if any of this post is "replyable". i just needed to be listened to...:) thank you...

yes, damos is chivalrous..perhaps *you* sense that i value that, lol. loyalty is the sincerest form of flattery. and you can quote me on that.:)

i like the song...i really have stopped the whole people pleasing thing. and it is such a breath of fresh air...and ppl still like me...it's just awesome.

> yes, unless you please YOURSELF- that is the way you will please others- because- you are- so- pleasing-

well..thanks...although i've have wondered sometimes in the past if you even liked the real me...i've noticed you have a penchant for opposites..while we are not the same, we are not exactly opposites either...or opposites on traits that usually denote a certain type of liking...i seem immune to such laws of magnetism though...odd. (at least, i think i am...maybe i'm not and i just don't realize it yet.)

Dearest Alesta,

:-(
:-(

You should know that from the day you first posted this I tried at least a dozen times a day to reply. I wanted to reply to your posts on Relate as well but something about this one was compelling me. And then when I finally did manage to reply I was so upset with myself for have failed so comprehensively to say what I meant.

And then there was your reply. Somehow, by some miracle you had understood. I don't know how, but you had and I was totally overwhelmed by your reply. You got it so right.

Please dear Alesta, don't underestimate your ability to reach, touch and move. You have done it to me many times. It is important that you know that I was responding to the sense I have of you, the feeling I have of you. You. The person that choose those lyrics, not the lyrics. I went out and bought that cd so that I could hear the words as you did and get a sense of the feelings. I was responding to the you I have got to know just a little through so many of your posts. To the you that reaches out from beneath the words you write and deep into the heart and soul of me. Maybe I was also resonding to seeing some of my own truth in you.

Don't ever doubt you had it right. It did resonate. So much so that I couldn't respond. Cause I could understand how you'd manage to hear, what I'd so badly failed to say.

Please take very good care of you.

Love,
Damos

hello damos,:)

...and here i am thinking you didn't like my reply lol! you mean i actually got it right? well..stranger things have happened! lol ah, the glories of internet communication!-) wow...i am seriously speechless..i might need some time to analyze your post before replying...only kidding..sort of. :)

no, but seriously, *thank you*..very much, damos... it's nice to know that i've reached and moved you...that is just awesome to me.

your post was very...deep....i think somehow through our differences we arrive at the same point..ya know? i don't know what i mean by that. but it's nice to connect with you on a mental level. it's a connection that is too intangible to identify. absolutely unexplainable. or perhaps just my imagination. sometimes it's nice to switch from logical mode to one of mere fantasy...

i'm not feeling well today (physically and due to sedating (allergy) meds) but wanted to try and reply anyways..i think you are wonderful.

damos, you are very special. such a **good spirit**. and how come we never used to talk on this site? let me know if you figure that one out.;)

thanks again for the encouraging words, sir D. i wish only good things for you...you have such a beautiful heart. always remember that. that is the only thing that matters...who we *really* are...

love to *you*! have a great one! :-)

If I were to be knighted I would surely be Sir Lunchalot, Sir Cumference, Sir Cus or Sir Cuitous. Other suggestions would be welcome.

Though personally I think cries of "Off with his head!" are more likely than a knighthood.

Thank you both, you are waaaaaaaay to kind. My life is very much the richer for your being in it. Me chivalrous - yeah right.

P.S: Alesta, my songs would be either The Fool on the Hill (Beatles) or Lonesome Loser (Little River Band)

you don't need someone else to be the reason to start anew, Amy.

You are precious enough yourself.

Don't ever change too much.

maybe, but there is nothing to forgive.i always trust you- we both go through enough tumult for ten people, hence times when communication is less frequent than desired. but i am near breakdown atm and am more pleased than you can imagine to have such a comrade right now. tumult.
