my dad

Posted by lynn971 on February 18, 2006, at 19:57:57

His speech is slurred and he stumbles every once in a while. We brought him to the emergency room this evening and they did a cat scan. Nothing came up. He looks drunk, but he does not drink.

I think we need to bring him to a bigger hospital out of town so that they can do an MRi.

I will keep you guys posted.

Luv you guys,
Lynn

Sorry about your Father. I agree further testing is merited. Prehaps look up some info on TIA's - Transient Ischemic Attacks. Not to scare you, but just for your information.

Oh Lynn I'm so sorry is there anything I can do? I know the hospital there is small are you taking him to the larger one. They don't think he had a stroke do they? Praying for you and your family. Love Jan

Late lastnight we were looking through his meds. Thursday the doc also put him on chorazapan (totally misspelled and prob. mis pronounced) Anyway, it is an anti-psychotic. I am sure that it has to do with the meds. Well, no I am not sure.

Thanks,
Lynn

Of all the things it COULD be that caused his symptoms, a med action might be the least and hopefully, easier dealt with.

Hope you all work things out.

He is much better today. It was the anti pyschotic. I think the doc put him on it because of flashbacks from Vietnam.

I'm so glad it was that and not a stroke.

Flashbacks from Vietnam? I can't possibly imagine what that might be like for him. That was such a terrible time. Those were some brave freaking people who lived (and died) through that. What your Dad went through is probably beyond our comprehension. I'm glad the problem was identified.

My ex did a tour over there. He still won't talk much about it, but it sure did change him.

My sympathies. I sure relate to the flashbacks. I don't think those guys can ever get completely over it.
