I am pathetic

Posted by Angela2 on November 17, 2005, at 20:29:58

I am so lazy. My self esteem is plummetting at work (I feel like everyone thinks I'm stupid or is mad at me) and I check my email more than once a day for emails from my ex (we agreed to be friends) who has clearly moved on (he hasn't written since tues and it feels like an eternity). I just want to curl up in my bed (even though I have homework) and go to sleep.

you are reacting like many.
Try not to be so hard on yourself and maybe do something to distract yourself from thinking about him.

Im sorry you feel so sh*tty

Are you able to concentrate on homework at all? try to do 10 min. thats all, it may help make you feel better.

I suggest getting a copy of "I will survive" and sing with it into a hairbrush, at the top of your lungs, while standing on your bed. That always makes me feel better anyway.

Angela2 is NOT pathetic » Angela2

you are NOT pathetic - you're grieving and it's hard to let go. Let yourself write, make art, talk, cry...whatever makes it just a little bit easier....but wait..you've got homework? hhhmmm, I hope it doesn't suck too much- maybe it's interesting? I don't know.

As far as the work uncomfortability since I'm not you I can only say how I handle it - it's been an issue for me lately - I'm pretty sure people are mad at me too and they think I'm stupid. It's really been sending me into "tizzies" as I call them - I'm not rational, totally uncomfortable, anxious, angry -a real crazy fest! I can only say that I've been a bit more successful as of late with distracting myself. I keep thinking..."they're not out to get you...they're not out to get you...they're not out to get you" - how's that for a mantra? hee hee... Whatever they do or do not think about you - other people are bound to become fixated once again on their own crap so I find it best to remove myself from the situation mentally. Sometimes when I'm really having a hard time with being preoccupied with how other people think of me I find something in terms of work tasks to really focus on, and/or I daydream about where I'd like to go or do that would be nice and also possible.
....but it's not much in the face of a serious depression and/or anxiety of course. I hope you're taking some decent care of yourself. You're NOT pathetic deary, you do need some time though I think. :-)

Why does that remind me of "Bridget Jones' Diary"?

You're not pathetic. Sometimes people can become insecure for whatever reasons, but that does not make them pathetic. Give yourself some time to get over your EX.

Maybe you are wanting to get together again with your ex? It does sound like you are pining a bit. Is this something that you want to happen?

Sleepygirl: Bridget Jones' Diary? Angela2 too

sleepygirl: I've never even seen that movie. Did they steal my idea? I sing at the top of my lungs the entire commute home from work. It realives stress somehow. Some co-workers have seen me and made fun, but the good natured kind. They drove by mimicking me singing. This time last year I spent the commute home getting stoned. This is definitely better (and not near as dangerous).

Angela2: How has today gone for you? I know what its like to be in that pit of depression where you just think you're the most pathetic person to ever walk the face of the earth. Its hard to suggest something that might help. I think you have to find the inspiration inside yourself. Dig deep and find a reason to get motivated (I'm saying this to myself as well as you right now). Do whatever it takes! And know we're all here rooting for you & know what a great person you are!!!

My day went OK. I feel like a rock when it comes to socialness at work. My night got better though. I went to a coffee house that played live jazz music. It was fun. I just felt like I needed to be aroound people so badly, and this place felt safe. I'm starting to realize he just isn't worth it.
