i'd like to open a dialogue...

Posted by alesta on November 7, 2005, at 9:37:50

sometimes i wonder if my presence on this site is a good thing, or if it hurts others...i just have this intuition that maybe my being social or having fun here is not a good thing for ppl...maybe i should pick a non-mental health site for the purposes of fun/banter and whatnot? i really care about you guys. i am sorry if i ever hurt any of you...sometimes this place is my sole source of social connection aside from work, as i can tend to isolate (although not right now..i'm in a da$n shelter!:))..but maybe that is not reason enough to be here anymore...i'm not sure what i'm saying. i just want us all to be happy, and am willing to change if necessary....please, any input would be appreciated.:)

sorry if this post seems inappropriate or anything like that...i'm not sure how to get my point across..i'm not expressing myself too well right now..i just hope this post can open a dialogue...

take care,:)

Amy, perhaps having a challenging time IRL is colouring how you feel about your participation here? That happens to me a lot but the light bulb only went on recently LOL!
When my self esteem is low, it's low everywhere I go... here, on the phone, with my in-laws, you name it. Sometimes I will lay low, though not for very long.

Do what feels best, Amy. Know that you are valued here!!

You sound so sweet and sensitive, Alesta! I understand about wanting to banter, etc....If I couldn't tease, joke, etc.. Well, life would really bite, if ya know whut I mean!

Please stay; you are obviously a sweetie!

If ya wanna read my story (I've posted it other places, so forgive me for repeating it, but I only got a few responses; I figure if I post it (LOL, LOL) EVERYWHERE, eventually I'll be lucky and get tons of responses; like to some of the threads i Look at! LOL)>

Thank you CLearSkies! hmm..i just used caps with you..that's strange..anyway.:) i guess my self-esteem has taken a blow as of late..funny how life changes so quickly..one minute you can take on the world..the next you are a vulnerable punching bag. i didn't realize my self-esteem was suffering really til you said something. i've got to be stronger than to let ppl hurt me so easily. thank you for valuing me, cs, and for weighing in on this. you are a wonderful friend to me.:-) and i hope you are feeling good about yourself today!:) no reason not to hon. (i know...tell myself that right..:)) you actually sound great in your post today...i'm very glad to see that pc oops cskies!:)

Hi Amy,

I'm always glad to see your tag pop up on the boards. We probably haven't talked that much but that's my fault. But know that I'm glad you're here and that I always read your posts and worry a bit when we don't see you for a while. You make me laugh and smile and feel deeply and that means a lot.

You take care now okay.

Like Damos, I feel I haven't talked to you much... In my case I don't always know what to say...

But I do like your posts and it's nice having you here. I don't recall seeing anything you've written that would be hurtful, and you seem like a really nice person. So yeah, please do keep posting!

i totally understand and empathize, tamar...and there are so many ppl to interact with on social there just isn't enough time in the day or enough room on the board to get to post to everyone regularly whatsoever...i'm hoping ppl realize that and don't take it personally if i don't reply to their posts either...i post like 5 posts every few days...and that doesn't leave much room for meeting lots of new ppl.. i feel bad..like i want to get to know everyone. anyway, sorry to ramble...i just hope ppl realize that....i want to get to know everyone...there are so many nice ppl here right now.:) glad i could finally say that, and hope to see you around tamar:)...take care, amy

Amy - I agree that you are quite valuable. I have known you from when I joined babble almost 2 years ago and I really missed you while I was away the last few months.

I often wonder if I should not post the silly little jokes that I do - especially when there are no replies to them! But I know that my light hearted posts are read and I am hoping even more, appreciated. And because it makes me smile - and feel good - I will continue.

What I am trying to say - is that you are special, as are your posts. And if I had a huggy springy dancy smiley now - I would insert it.

Love Sabrina

sabri,
that post was so sweet and lovely. nice to read amidst the general chaos of my day. i am gonna try and lighten the heck up! everything is stressing me...some of my things may have been stolen...i am now missing my brush, lipstick, slippers...i look terrible! lol and god knows what else I’m missing. oh, but I lost my computer disk with everything on it of my own accord. this has put me a pretty dejected mood. maybe tomorrow will be better. i hope. (sh%t..should I even post this..why the h#ll not..) i have got so much to do. but i am so unbelievably upset over losing my computer disk especially. i wish I could just say to h#ll with it and move on. but I can’t stop thinking about it..I wish I could feel better. thanks for being there sabri. i realized yesterday that i always seem to forget when things are bad that tomorrow could be totally different...so I guess I’ll try and remember that...it took me years to figure that one out..thanks again

<And if I had a huggy springy dancy smiley now - I would insert it.

i love those!!! cute, sabri *:-0) don't ask me what that picture is...i'm trying to be an artist here..i think it's pretty good impressionistic art, myself :) sorry i'm losing it quite rapidly

love to you, gf,:)

You know - you really amaze me with your "this is not going to get me down" attitude. Despite your circumstances being so very difficult. I have so much to learn from you.

I do not blame you for feeling what you do about your missing disk. After all, apart from a brush and lipstick - it really is very personal. I do so hope it turns up!!

Amy - you always bring a smile to my face.

I'm getting drippy now but I have a pretty 'cushy' and I suppose stress free kind of life and still feel sorry for myself, but you, well you are just one of a kind!
