Anyone have Goldfish for friends?

Posted by Curt on September 5, 2005, at 19:35:28

Hey Everyone,

I find goldfish to be the best pets ... they are loyal, friendly, playful and so cute. Who wants to start a goldfish club?

Curt is Cute, Don't Dispute

I don't have any goldfish - don't have space for a sufficiently large tank - but I do have two bettas. Good fun, especially with a mirror placed by their tanks...

(Although one of them decided to go and be a male on me without my being aware at the time of naming, so now I need to think of another. Not fair!)

i did too! Fred and Barney and i did the mirror thing but one would bury himself under the rocks and hide so the other beta left him alone. i never did it after that i felt so bad.(i'm a softy); )

No, but I thought about what you said, and tried to put my golden labs in a fish bowl to see if they'd be as cute as your fish. They swam around and tried to jump out, and I didn't think it was really all that cute, and they smelled bad when they got out, so I decided just to stick with dogs. Wanna start a golden lab club? If you don't I'll have to be "curt" with you! And then I'll have to take a short armed picture of you with a bald head.

Aw, your poor fishy. He deserves pity pellets for having managed to traumatize himself.

Mine tend to just go after the reflection so violently that I find myself worrying they'll exhaust themselves doing so. Then again, I seem to end up with freakishly aggressive fish. The one I had about a year ago would flare at my cat, who would then back off in a hurry... it was an interesting sight to see.

My doggies are sneezy today. They keep trying to get into the potty, and I keep telling them they're too big! I had to put the fishy bowl away, it was just too small for them. They just look at me with their big brown eyes, as if to tell me I started this whole thing. Maybe I should take them swimming in the baby pool, but I have to wait till the sneezies are gone.

I did as you said, and every time I tried blowing on their noses, they either sneeze on me or try to bite me! I just don't get it, see if I try to do them a favor!

Okay, I've tried blowing on their noses, that made them mad, and now I've tried jumping when I do them favors, and they just look at me funny, you know that head turned sideways look dogs do. I don't mean dog doo, I mean the glance they have when they turn their head to the side, it's really cute, unlike dog doo! Yuk! Anyway, I'm just not all that sure about this dog club you started curt! How about gold fish?

FW I have a solution to this,

Stand on your head and bring ONE dog, but only one really close to you face with a dog treat held up to YOUR mouth (while upside down)and then when they come close blow in the dogs nose and you will be amazed LOL But this is tricky so make sure you only do one dog at a time. And One last thing you have to sing the grover song! It makes a huge differnece.
good luck and I anxiously await your report back lol

Lol I forgot to say, dont let them do that when you blow in their noses.

A fish club sounds fun, I am going to get some of the curt fish tomorrow and put a mirror up to them. And Im going to try it with a cat too

There used to be some terrific goldfish in a tank in the psych ward. they were really big. i used to lie on the couch and put my fingers lightly on the side of the tank and they would come up and kiss my fingers. and just kind of hang out with my hand :-) they were great, very soothing and relaxing. and good company. unfortunately... they didn't do so well in the hospital environment. people kept trying to feed them bits of their lunch.

in the end i think they got given away to a good home. or maybe thats just what they decided to tell us. maybe they just died.

one of the nurses used to reliably grumble about how they needed to be given away. she had fish. she used to play with them. right from when they were really little. get them used to her putting her finger in the tank and then feeding them. putting her hand in the tank and then feeding them. gradually... gradually... they used to swim around her hand / fingers. she was real upset when they died. had to take a couple days off work and all.

i tried to keep fish... but they kept dying on me :-( i don't know what i did wrong... dunno. but i thought i'd better give up because i killed a fair few :-(

but i do like goldfish.
and i reckon they make pretty good pets too :-)

YOUR a genius! BUT I didn't know the grover song, so I had to substitute "wake up sleepy potato", and they were okay with that, although I did hear a few grumbles.
THANKS!
