Has there been anyone like me before?

Posted by Deneb on August 20, 2005, at 1:19:52

Has there been anyone like me on these boards before?

Do I tend to say things are other people just don't say?

I'm afraid I'm a little impulsive about letting all my thoughts be known. I've been trying to hold back. I find myself writing posts and then deleting them all the time now.

I'm really trying not to be so open here. I think I've already embarrassed myself to the max here many times.

Anyways, has there been anyone like me here before? How did things work/not work out?

Do I project a lot onto Dr. Bob? Too much? Has anyone ever done this before? It's difficult to control...so easy to project when the other person cannot speak. I think I stopped doing it with Hammie, maybe I can learn to stopping doing this as well?

I think it is easy to project a lot on to Dr Bob, and that many of us here have done it, simply because he is so very quiet and "just an administrator, ma'am".

I do think that you tend to post whereas I personally would stay silent, but that's just me. Even given my staggering quantity of posts. You're very prolific. Sometimes I can't follow them all, so I don't read them all, but that says more about my ability to concentrate and stick with what I'm reading. Kind of a newspaper headline mentality, and nothing I'm proud of.

Also, we're all quite different here. There's never been anyone like you, Deneb; just like there has never been anyone like me, or Dinah, or justyourlaugh, or AuntieMel, or any of the other wonderful folks at Babble. It's all good.

Heehee, that's funny! I wonder what he thinks about all this projection! It must be amusing for him (or maybe I'm just projecting yet again?). lol

I try to at least re-read my posts once before I submit it now, but I'm still quite uninhibited I guess. Prolific...is that good or bad?

It's OK. I don't have time to read a lot of posts here either.

OK, I'll take your word on that. :-)

Thanks ClearSkies!

Deneb, my feelings get hurt too if no one responds to my posts. I often feel like people think I am stupid or crazy. This probably comes with the territory of being depressed,OCD, and/or anxiety disorder.

Don't stop leaving posts. I would miss you.

Luv ya,
Lynn 970

Me too. I tend to post first and think later.
Getting better there... (I hope)

>Prolific...is that good or bad?

I think its neutral...

I don't read all your posts either. I don't think I read all the posts of any poster here. Except maybe mine ;-)

So what I said before about reinforcement was probably way off... I just know that my DBT therapist tried to use that strategy with me... But it probably doesn't happen here.

:-)
Yeah, I second that.

Hi Deneb. I'm back here after an extended sabatical.

I think one thing you may not be aware of is that there have been people in the past who post things to be intentionally hurtful to the people here. They will claim not to understand what they're doing that is so hurtful, although its apparent they're doing it on purpose. They seem to enjoy toying with people who are sensitive and have emotional issues. That being said, I don't think that's what you're doing. However it could be interpreted that way by people who have been toyed with in the past. I hope this helps you understand why people around here can be pretty sensitive to posts that appear to be baiting them.

I hope I explained this right. I'm trying to be helpful, but I know emails sometimes come off sounding different than how you intended. I just thought it might help you to know of this happening in the past.
