Anyone Else Addicted To Babbleland?

Posted by Phillipa on July 21, 2005, at 17:50:39

Today was horrible! No messages and no way to post. I guess Dr. Bob closed everything down. So glad we're back to normal now. But I found myself feeling lost and lonely without Babble. Anyone else? Fondly, Phillipa

It worked out rather well for me. I dragged myself to work even though I still felt absolutely dreadful. And I managed to do it!

But last night was awful. When I clicked on Babble, and it said "Done" but the screen was blank.

I hope Dr. Bob keeps that from happening permanently.

Yes, it was a weird feeling to find the site unavailable for a while. I felt kind of lost, at loose ends. I mean, I *do* have a life outside babble (pretty full, too!) but still -- babble has become quite important to me, and I like the people here, so it felt disappointing to find the site "gone" temporarily. I'm so glad it's back up! I don't think it's perfect here, but I like it quite a bit. :)

I got an E-mail from Carolina this morning. She's relatively new but she's so sweet, helpful, and cute. She said she thought she was blocked because of the site being down. I thought at first that no one was posting. I guess all the uk people must have felt the same. Not even one post from Ed today. Fondly, Phillipa

Matt, What are you joking about? You mean you're not at Terminal D? But I'm in the car with my wireless laptop on my way to pick you up! How tall are you? What are you wearing? What color is your hair? Are you skinny, fat, or muscular? Fondly, Phillipa

That's scary. Do you have reason to believe that possibility is looming?

Or am I a little too emotional and taking things too literally today...? (IhopeIhopeIhopeIhope)

I've no reason to think that. I just wonder that he doesn't get sick of us sometimes and want to pull the plug. You couldn't blame him really.

(Ummm... Not us individually of course. Babble and the troubles it creates sometimes. And by pull the plug, I of course meant electronically.)

Yeah.
Just have to hope he is as addicted to this place as we are.
And maybe he is, maybe he is :-)

OK. I get it. Sorry for overreacting......and... » Dinah

...it's really just too funny how the unconscious works.

In this subject line, I first typed "overeating" - simple as that and it looked correct to me, although my rational mind knew that's not what we we discussing.

Oh boy, my weight and compulsive eating haven't been on my mind much lately...nope, not one little bit.

<sigh> Now, why doesn't my crafty, all-powerful unconscious go ahead and solve the problem while I'm sleeping tonight?

I like that idea very much, Alex!

It is possible, he's only human, after all... (!)

I echo your hope...
Maybe he is, maybe he really, really is :-)

I was dependent for quite a while. When I first found this place, several years ago, it was during an agoraphobic phase and it composed almost all of my interaction. I was constantly on the boards and spent little time doing much else. That became a problem for me. Plus, something awful happened with another poster..... That changed alot of how I saw this type of interaction and it wasn't ALL about help and support any longer. Also, I learned I was oversensitive, overinvolved, and over bought-in. But, that was just me at the time.

I now try to keep it in perspective for me. There are some good things to learn here and some good people to meet.
