Mine hasn't specifically said so, but every once in a while he takes a jab at Babble. That's why most of my reading/posting is when he's not around. I don't suppose that's the perfect solution, though. Maybe he would feel differently if Babble wasn't so much of an unknown for him. I'll have to think about that.

Is everything okay, Dinah?

We're going through a rocky patch. Not caused by Babble.

I think we made the huge mistake of talking late at night, when the filters aren't up, and we're likely to tell the truth.

It'll pass.

I can't say that mine is, much to my surprise. Maybe it's because every now and then I take him over to the computer screen and make him read a post, saying, "see?? Isn't that just the most wonderful thing you've ever seen??"
He thinks I get too emotionally involved sometimes (like I need to be reminded of that!) - and I agree with him.
pc - back after getting too emotionally involved...

I don't know if my husband is jealous of Babble in particular, but he gets annoyed if I spend too much time in front of the computer unless I'm obviously working.

I think he's pleased that I find Babble supportive, but he probably thinks I spend too much time here.

Is your husband jealous of the time, or the friendships, or something else?

(((Dinah))),

Those late night talks are no good for me and D, either.

I hope things are better for you soon.

I don't think I can say why he's jealous without also being very very insulting to him. Not about the motivations for his jealousy exactly, but about his enjoyability (if that's a word) as a companion.

It'll pass. The best thing we have going for us is an incredible sense of commitment. It gets us through those rough times to better times ahead. And there will be better times.

My favorite quote on relationships is from "The Four Seasons (Alan Alda)". I just ordered my copy so I'll finally be able to get down the exact wording rather than the very old retained sense of what was said. It was something along the lines of a relationship being like a wave full of crests and troughs. And oh boy, is this a trough.

My husband has many find and useful qualities.

I dont' know what I or my son would do without him, and I would never want to find out.

Ah. Well. Nobody's perfect (I always think of the final scene of 'Some Like it Hot' when I say that).

I've always believed that other people's relationships are unfathomable, so I don't tend to think badly of someone's other half when someone has a few choice words to say about them.

But yes, the troughs... shudder...

Hi Dinah,

May be he just wants his dear wife back, because you probably spend your life here, most of the time. Just a guess, because i would be angry too.

Bye.

It's very nice of you to interpret it as his wanting more of my charming presence.

Mine is definitely irriated by the time I spend here. Even on my day off from work, I could spend the entire day with my children and he'll say something "nasty" about the 20 minutes I spend here "checking in".

I try not to defend myself. Just let the comments fly. However, I try to do most of my babbling before the kids wake up, a few minutes at work, and when the kids go to bed. Of course, there are exceptions :)

He'll say, "I just don't get it why you spend so much time there." I'll reply, "you don't have to get it. Just be supportive." That makes no sense to him. He looks at me as if I am speaking a foreign language.
