Disneyland or not.. yeah this should be elsewhere

Posted by Spriggy on March 29, 2005, at 19:32:17

No doubt someone will come along and move this thread so I will manipulate the system and ask a question about a psych drug before I say what I really posted to say:

Um... let's see..... um...

Can Lamictal make you constipated?

There. there's my question.

Now, onto the real purpose of this post.

We are supposed to take our first family vacation EVER. We have never had the money to go anywhere on vacation (besides a drive to the beach for the day), but we got a nifty income tax refund this year (thank you Mr. Bush!), so we decided to take half of it and go on a trip to Disneyland.

The trip is already paid for. We got insurance on it because my dad is lingering on his deathbed so we knew there was a chance he might not be alive when this trip came up.

Now, we are supposed to leave for LA on Monday morning.

I still don't feel "right." The old me, would have been SOOOOO excited about a vacation, I would be flying high right now thrilled like a kid in a candy store.

The new me (anxiety, bipolar 2 or whatever it is), is more nervous, anxious and terrified about this trip than anything.

I just plain don't want to go. I'm afraid I will ruin my family's time becuase the thought of being in a huge amusement park with Mickey and thousands of other's is not my idea of "fun" at this point.

Plus, right now, everyone in my house is STILL sick with ear infections, sinus infections, etc..

I think it would be wisest to go ahead and use our insurance coverage and cancel the trip until everyone is well and I am more stabilized.

My husband, as compassionate as he is, just really, really wants/needs to get away at this point from all of his demands (ministry/church work).

We came to the conclusion that if worse comes to worst, I can stay in the hotel room hidden away from society and he will take the kiddo to the park and have fun.

That is fine but what will happen is that I will end up feeling OVERWHELMING guilt for not being apart of this family trip.

I don't know what I'm asking for... wisdom, insight, I don't know.

OH but most importantly, I am asking if Lamictal causes constipation. yeah... that's right.

LOL

Spriggy, I know how you and the guilt. Don't any of your meds act on anxiety and work? I ignore many social engagements because of anxiety, but they say to say to yourself"What's the worst that can happen to you? Will someone put you against a wall and shoot you?" This used to help me, but of course, today someone might just do it! Just go, and "pretend" if you can. Try to go and don't think past today. If everyone is sick though, noone will enjoy a vacation now so I would wait. Gosh, you have a real dilema. Fondly, Phillipa
