come on feel the noise..

Posted by justyourlaugh on March 22, 2005, at 22:53:00

sorry about the subject...
i would love if one of the moderaters..set up a time table for a chat...
most of us can not come to the "Party"
most of us do not care....
party on ..
but remember...what it means...
only the rich..can afford to come..
only the rich will listen,,..
if i had a million dollars....
i would not come...but i will listen..

i think a "party" is the most horrid...
online relations...do not ever need to be justified...

Willy nilly? Well, if that's so, willy nilly is good, because I love your posts, Jai.

You know, you are right that there are financial considerations to travelling to Chigago. And you know what? I called you jai, in my post to you above. I'm very sorry. I knew it was you, but I think of you as jyl...so I just typed the wrong three letters. Sorry.

Hmm, my dad used to play a banjo...wonder if it's still around.

Take care, sweetie

I soooooo understand what you mean. I don't have the resources OR the time off from work to just "pop" over to Chicago...

But I disagree with your "willy nilly" statement. I happen to like your posts... so, hey, stop beating up yourself, you happen to be hurting my buddy!!!!

I have to admit I feel a bit of resentment about the party too. I'm not angry at anyone personally-- but the internet kind of makes things equal I guess, and the party was another reminder that I'm not in the same category as a lot of people here.

and I feel lucky that I have a computer- your post just reminded me that to some mentally ill people, even the internet is not available.

I think feel guilty for being upset about not going on a trip, sigh....

It's true, and if it weren't for people better off financially than I am I wouldn't have some of the things that I do. Realistically there are always things that people will have, while others do without, and though I know that cognitively, I still feel a bit stung.

I have to admit, I've been pushing away feelings of envy. I can't afford to go either and would love to meet other posters. Oh well, maybe I can come to jyl's kitchen party? Are you having one, with music? I love homemade music, it's the best, the most fun, the best people and fun.

Wahhhh!!!! But I want *everyone* to come to Chicago.
I know how very lucky I am to be able to pull off my trip, even though it's due to how much my husband travels for work. Without his airline and hotel points, I'd be sweating in Florida and wishing I was there.

what about booking flights through cheap tickets, I haven't looked into this but I have heard you can get tickets crazy cheap! Just a thought. unless it is just the combination of the whole trip. But its worth looking into.

I can't afford to eat properly, a flight no matter how cheap would be like buying diamonds.

Oh I am envious, but when I think of how wonderful the people are (like you) who get to go I'm actually happy for it. After all, anyone who suffers from this is doing without, and deserves to celebrate.

Being on the Great Lakes I think Chicago can get pretty hot and humid, too, but Florida can definitely be worse, I'm sure. I'll bet Chicago feels like a breath of fresh air .. hold on, isn't it the windy city? I have a friend who talks about the ropes on campus there, so you can walk between buildings on bad days ... sounds like Sci Fi from here, but so ordinary there, I suppose. Hmh.

'm the same as Gabby, can't afford to eat properly, at this point, anyways. Will probably have to sell my car if things don't change pretty quick. Damn quick. Like, two weeks to breaking point. Sigh.

Flying isn't the only way to get here, but maybe it would be a good idea to have some alternatives for people who can't make it here?

I was thinking it might be nice for some of us who can't make it to send pictures of ourselves, so that those who do attend can see what we look like. If we mailed them to Dr. Bob, he could put just our Babble names on the back of each one.

What do you think?

Ok, this may be a stupid idea, so don't laugh (please). I wonder if it would be possible, through the use of a webcam, for posters who can not attend the picnic to participate by the activities being put on Babble with a webcam. A new, temporary, board could be created specifically for the purposes of displaying the picnic activities, and those who wanted to join in on-line could do so. I don't know much about webcams, but my sister-in-law communicates with her family in Colombia through the use of a webcam. That way, she can see them and have as close to a face to face conversation with them without actually being in their presence.

No GG that's what I have to do when I've been a bad Damos ;-)

Oh and if Alexandra_k is swimming I'll join her when she gets to Sydney. Sadly it's about the only way I'd be able to get there. Anyway, even if I did go I'd have to change my tag to LittleJackHorner afterwards =0)

That's an interesting idea. There might be issues with images being public, but maybe they wouldn't have to be...

It would require Internet access, which might be tricky if it's a picnic... If we do have Internet access, however, there's always just plain posting...
