For the next time Dr. Bob brings up the idea of being able to edit your own posts. :)

I can just imagine the imagine the resulting chaos. Outrage and hurt feelings followed by a total lack of problem showing up when you try to figure out what's going on.

Holy Kamunga.

I think Doc John may have deleted it. I PM'd him to ask, but no response as of yet. Messages there can be edited or deleted by the poster for up to one hour after posting. And mods can delete any post, but I think they leave some kind of trace.

You're not hallucinating, PC. Unless Tofuemmy and I are too. And she mentioned something in an email about a couple positive responses to it as well, although I never saw those and don't know if they were posted or PM'd.

I admit when I read it, it didn't affect me one way or another, though. I guess cause I've read some of Dr. John's stuff about his forum and his views on internet research such as Dr. Bob does. I wasn't surprised by it, and I guess I just feel a bit indifferent. (maybe it's the nardil) :o

Thanks for your explanation. I post at both sites. I've actually never read his welcome before as you'll see there is no response from me. It's certainly not offensive now IMHO.

Maybe he had so many people going over there complaining on dr bob and blocks he put it up I mean there ARE psych patients running to his site saying a LOT about what they felt was an injustice done on to them by Dr Bob in that case I can understand ..If I had say 20 people come to me and say man I feel bad cause of being blocked for saying a word like insensitive..I would perhaps do something like he MAY have done...He may be able to edit but I still feel he MAY not have written it..hackers can be good..I feel indiffernt too..I have read the site and some posts but do not belong to it.

You had to be there

- and you had to have seen the Bob Bashing as I have before at that site in order to have had the response I did.
Oh well, I can handle being the only one offended. it *was* highly unprofessional, snide, and a final put-off for me. Animation and jumping icons aside, it's no place for me if the "doctor" who runs the place thinks it's appropriate to post such a thing.

I better bow out of this thread before I get myself in trouble here.

PC,
Your reaction to it is perfectly valid. I remember the Bob-bashing, and probably particpated in my own way at the time. And given that, I can certainly see how that post might appear. I don't disagree with you at all. And given that it is gone now, perhaps he thought it over and decided it might be a bit rude, too?

I hope you are not feeling as if your feelings aren't being supported and that's why you are "bowing out"? Unless your bowing out is a self-protective move, and then I understand.

I empathize.

I gotta admit there's something to be said for an administrator who stands behind what he says, for better or worse. Even if it's for worse.

Posts disappearing or changing would be a bit crazy making for me.

Even if an administrator thinks better of what he says, he should be willing to leave the original up and apologize for it. That's the mature and admirable thing to do.

Big exhale. Walking away from the computer (driving 12 miles, cooking dinner, reading a couple of chapters in a book) really helped.

He said something like.. I heard whispers that there is a small influx of people coming in from Dr. Bob's site so here are some things I would like you to know about this one:

(This is all I could remember, except that he typed your instead of you're once too)

I believe that suicide is a serious issue and should be dealt with with real life resources therefore suicidal posts are not permitted here.

I try not to micromanage people here or be paternal or maternal! I ask that the posters here treat others the way that they themselves would like to be treated.

I was trying to pinpoint where my loyalty to this (PB) darn place originates from, and Dr John's message made it very clear that rather than showing Dr Bob a professional courtesy and civility, by welcoming those who are exploring other places to gather and share information about mental health, he conducts a site where Bob bashing is not only tolerated, but endorsed.

Never saw that particular welcome, the only one I find now is quite bland and watered-down. Spooky if all posts can be edited - how on earth can one figure out what's *real*? That would be Headache-Central, for me.

Psych Central put me off right away anyway, because I only have a free email account (Yahoo) and they won't permit me to join! Well - excuuuuuuse me!! The heck with ya' then!

I've fallen madly in love with Babble - for better or for worse - so there!

Angielala,

I can understand why. I guess you have already seen this. Geez. It's pretty unprofessional not to mention unfeeling for someone to insinuate that a poster has an ulterior motive for posting a question.

I really didn't think the original response was that unfeeling, but I was sickened by Dr. Grohol chiming in, what was that all about?

I know it's a technicality, that anyone could go over to Grohol's board and read the posts, but somehow I think I'd feel invaded links to my posts from Babble were posted over there for people to mull over.

It makes sense now- he doesn't allow free addresses to sign up because he offends so many and then kicks them off that he wants to make sure that they don't just make another email account and come back to him. Sad that he has to do that, huh?

He edits all the posts- and if people don't like what he said, he takes the posts down and says that they were never there.

At least I know now...

It's easier to link to posts that slam PB than try to explain how to find it... especially when Dr. John likes to fool around with posts so that
he can take back what he said.

He's messed with the wrong girl.
