Sometimes it's the little things in life that get to us the most. I found with my son, I had to learn to pick my battles or else we would always be at odds.

I squeeze at top too :( (nm)

I use a different kind of toothpaste for just that reason. He has his tube, I have mine, and I make sure we never run out.

Yeah, I squeeze it at the top. Makes for more fun later :-)

What gets me is when people put the toilet roll wrong way up. So the paper feeds from underneath instead of from over the top.

If you think thats annoying, sometimes when I let the rats to play in teh bathroom I forget to put away the toothpaste. This usually means that when I come back I find a tube with about 10 holes ... try and get something out of that! :P

Then I have to put it in a tupperware not to throw it away.

I second the two tubes things ... that or get those that come in bottles.

Mee toooo! and the top off even more!! (nm) » saw

And the ordering of knives, forks, spoons in the drawer. I mean that is it. Knives, forks, spoons. That is how you say it, that is how they are 'supposed' to go.

I often move them into the 'correct' order when I help people put away. I have never had anyone change it back. Sometimes I tell them after a few weeks I did that. Sometimes they didn't notice or care, but other times they say it is a much more logical order :-)

And the situation with the toilet paper is that if you buy printed toilet paper (which I don't like much) then it has to go that way up for the print to be on the right side. Maybe the rule is that printed toilet paper goes that way up, but no I think a generalisation is permitted.

This is carefully explained to people if they keep turning it up the other way. Some people don't buy it.

Maybe I am a bit OC...

But then the question is: if these things bug me, then why do I squeeze the toothpaste from the top? I have no idea...

You are a perfectionist, no?

I think we would make good flatmates. With separate tubes of toothpaste!

Ok so if you explain it to me maybe I will learn the error of my ways. Why can't you squeeze it from the top?

Oh but you can. There is absolutely no reason why one shouldn't. It is a quirk of my perfectionism. The tube looks untidy all scrunched at the top and I always have to squeeze from the middle or bottom to get the toothpaste past the empty top anyway.

I squeeze ever so gently and evenly from the bottom. I might even take an hour or two to arrange the toothbrushes around the tube!

toilet paper police?

toothpaste police?

silverware police?

I was brought up by a mother who made us follow the Emily Post ettiquette stuff. And who the F did Emily think SHE was?

These are the kind of things I have grown to ignore or do differently just to do it differently these days.

Yes,
I like my tp coming off the top.
I like my toothpaste rolled up from the bottom.

But, I like my silverware in the vicinity of where i will be using it.

There are so many insignificant dos and don'ts, rights and wrongs, no wonder so many people have difficulties over petty things.

I've been through it time and again.

Just don't believe there's a right or wrong way in the household area.

Only my way.
