I don't understand why there was a buzz, you don't have to have the media player installed but anyway, open recycle bin, right click on media player, click restore. If you deleted it from the recycle bin use system restore found in start > programmes > accessories > system tools > system restore. Or just go to microsoft.com and download media player 10.

Hope this helps.

Oh, thank you, I restored it from Recycle on my own when my PowerDvd player didn't work either. So I'm blessing Bill Gates and cursing him at the same time, we have a love/hate relationship, because there's no way Mediaplayer should be responsible for holding any of the other programs together, but it seems to work that way. In any case, I like the visuals on Mediaplayer, but I hate that it sucks life out of other programs.

I know now why you had that problem...

"2.4 How do I remove Windows Media Player from my computer entirely?

Windows Media Player is a feature of the operating system and cannot be removed entirely. However, depending upon which version of the Player and Windows you are using, you might be able to revert to an earlier version of the Player or remove access to the Player.

If you are running Windows Media Player 9 Series or later, you can revert to an earlier version of the Player. For more information, see question 2.3.

If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 SP3, or Windows 2000 SP4, you can remove access to Windows Media Player by using the Set Program and Access Defaults feature. Note that this only removes links to the Player. It does not remove the Windows Media Player software. To remove access to Windows Media Player, do the following:
1. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click the Set Program and Access Defaults button, and then choose a configuration (such as "Non-Microsoft" or "Custom")."

I think Windows media player 10 is a great programme, if you're not using 10 you should download it. In Europe Microsoft have been fined for making the media player a part of the o.s. because it's done damage to other companies who make media players, poor old Bill, I'll bet thats broke the bank for him lol. well I'm glad it's there.

Well it's quite easy actually, if it's set as your defalt player it will open and play when ever you double click on any media or insert a C.D. or D.V.D. but I guess you knew that part already.

To use newer features and theres a few or to rip and burn stuff just go into help for ehhh well help. And you can find more instructions here (go into "using the player" on the left):
