Rocky Horror Picture Show

I always thought this was American. But nooooo turns out the writer is a Hamiltonian (thats where I am from in NZ peoples).

We have just erected a statue in his honour in the middle of town :-)

Way to make the religious groups upset.... sheesh...

wait, I thought it was a religion?
I worked in a theater that was run by a collective.
We played this movie every friday and saturday night at midnight.
I worked it for 5 years while I was in art school.
So I can say with good authority that the movie has all the trappings of a religion.
Your town is famous. Does that make you famous too?
I know I am feeling famous lately.
Jai

Oh yeah, it has a cult following all right :-)
There was a theatre company up in Auckland who used to perform every Friday and people would turn up in costume and dance in the isles.

Yeah, we aren't too far away from Hobbit-land (Matamata) either :-)

I wonder if it will turn into an annual event?
It would be something to come here for...
Usually people run in the opposite direction :-)

Hi Alex,
Actually, the writer of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" plays the part of one of the main characters, Riff-Raff, in the film. There are always a bunch of theatres in the Village that have participatory midnight showings of "Rocky Horror" on Halloween. I've been to a few, and with the right crowd (drunk and high), they can be a lot of fun. ;) Atticus

Yes indeed, and who do you think the statue is of? A larger than life great big bronze one; right in the middle of town, in drag and all!

Yeah, I haven't seen it in years, Ive even forgotten most of it.

I know that we campaigned to get to perform it as the school play in high school. We were told that it would cost too much to be allowed to use it, but I think that the truth was that it was a bit 'out there' for a high school production.

Still, would have been fun though :-)
