Christmas Trees

Posted by Susan47 on November 22, 2004, at 19:35:26

I hereby announce that my christmas tree this year is the most beautiful one I have ever owned. Mmmmhmmmm. It's white, with white lights and it sparkles and shines like I feel. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Gonna lay under it and get a sunburn. Sowing the Seeds of Love ....

There is absolutely no doubt about that, Ada. I'm getting older as the minutes go by .... life doesn't retrograde, or something, you know what I mean..... it takes us that !quick! and it's so scary to know that this day'll never come again and there might've been more. I think you understand.....

It sounds lovely! So what do you mean white? Like a green tree with white flocking, or a totally fake one with white branches? I'm fond of fake trees myself. I'm with Lucy, who wanted Charlie Brown to get a pink aluminum tree.

Oh Tabitha, I'm so glad to hear someone else likes this commercial stuff as much as I do. I've wanted a white tree with red decorations ever since I was about four years old. They were the height of .. something.. in the sixties and I loved it. Now I have a big seven foot fake white tree with white lights built into it, it's absolutely like a touch of heaven in my living room because it's so BRIGHT and HOPEFUL, to me. It has pink garland and it looks great, totally fake. I'm a Lucy too.

I like real, but if I could find one of those old shiny aluminum ones with the big rotating colored light shining on it I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Keeping in mind that the idea here is not to use language that could offend others, could you please rephrase that?

I don't have a suitably glam fake tree, but I do have a tree-topper that's a star with tinsel plus flashing lights. A tree must have a light-up star topper, IMO. My childhood tree had a rather sedate angel topper, thought my gramma's tree angel was better, with lights in the skirt.

I'm almost inspired to get a tree for this year. I was admiring the fiber-optic ones. How much more fake/glam can you get?

Yeah, I prefer the real ones.

It is the smell. yummy. But then there is the problem of picking up all those darn pine needles. Still, I love the smell :-)

Just the fact that I hadn't seen you posting anything negative that day, and now you are again, you've gotten sad again, and you were feeling good and I guess I just felt bad that I wanted you to commiserate with me.

It wasn't your fault.

It's my own fault. I let it get me down again. I let the feeling inside again. I looked into my soul and saw nothing. I looked in the mirror and saw empty eyes staring back at me. I looked into my heart and realized it wasn't there. I miss him. Even if he was so mean at the end and lied. I miss him. It was him that I fed off of for support, love, affection, and acceptance.

Please don't use language that could offend others. The last time you were blocked it was for 2 weeks, and I'm going to make this for another 2 weeks.

susan used a word that offended you so you asked her to rephrase her post. Then, without using any more language that would offend you you ceremoniously block her for 2 weeks. What prompted you to imposed such a harsh penalty on someone who called herself an @ss not someone else, someone who appeared to unbegrudgingly rephrase her post as you requested?

If you ask someone to rephrase a post and you are not satisfied with their attempt do you then sanction them for insubordination?

Dr Bob, I don't understand. Is the offending word not synonymous with "donkey"? To mean stupid, obtuse, dull witted. My understanding of Susan's post is that she was intending precisely that, and was not referring to body parts.

I thought she was replying to AdaGrace, not rephrasing what I asked her to, but I do now think this should only be for 1 week, so I've made that change.

According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

http://www.m-w.com

A perissodactyl mammal, a stupid person, and buttocks are different uses of the word, and the last two are both often vulgar.

I'd like to redirect any further discussion of posting policies to Psycho-Babble Administration. Here's a link:
