How this election has worsened my depression

Posted by jakeman on November 7, 2004, at 0:46:52

The election caused me to feel a great sense of powerlessness. Myself and thousands others put our heart and souls into creating a movement that sought to overcome the climate of fear and replace it with hope. We were defeated. And I am mad as hell about that. But it can be a good thing because anger can be channeled into constuctive action. Over the last couple of days I've decided that the cure for powerlessness and depression is to take action. So that's what I plan to do in my personal life and well as in the social and political arena. I found this website to be especially comforting because it has pictures of kindred people and you can see the emotion in their eyes. http://www.sorryeverybody.com/gallery/1/

Please look at my posting in the next header.
don't get sad get mad.
remember this song:

Buffalo Springfield
For What It's Worth
Stephen Stills, 1966

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

I'm sure you are all good Americans, and I understand your disappointment. But this is a democracy and that's the way democracy works. It's still the best system around. Though I don't agree with you on everything, I still respect your voice and your vote. The people have spoken.

Your words are true. We live in a divided country with strong sides competing against each other in elections decided by rasor thin margins. Therefore it is incumbent on vigilent citizens that fully belive in democracy to make sure all rules are obeyed and any evidence of cheating be investigated (on either side!).

I agree. The key word is "evidence."

Where are you from?
I am one from a blue state.
I support peace.
Criminals do like to leave a trail.
Or they get caught?

Well, there is no argument that there were some problems with some of the machines. I think its important that we figure out what happened so that we can avoid it in the future. Even if it wasnt enough to change the outcome, problems need to be fixed because everyone's vote needs to count. Sure there maybe always be some problems, but eliminating them is key.

So Im not quite sure what you mean by "evidence" because there is evidence that there were machines coutning votes backwards (going up in # then down in #), and there were problems in Ohio hwere Bush got an extra 4000 votes. There were others too, and they are not in question.

Im not saying election was stolen, or not. Im not convinced either way yet and we may never know. All I am saying is that we need to fix any problems that we can.

Each state is responsible for their own voting machines.
