I'm pretty sure I've scored as an INTJ in the past, but maybe I growed up? I think I'm an IN(T=F)J. Both descriptions suit me, depending on the context.

i kinda doubt that, lar..<just kidding :)>

yes, i agree, it sounds like you probably are evenly split on the thinking/feeling preference. (In myers-briggs terms, that would make you an INXJ.) :) in that case, they suggest just what you said, to read both descriptions and find whichever parts of each description are pertinent to you. man, i love this stuff! :-)

I feel a little out of place here, an INFP/INTP depending on my mood. I can console myself with the introversion and intuition that I fully share with everyone else. The perceiving function tends to trail off...

hi zeug! don't feel out of place..we've had a couple ENFPs here, too, so you're like a combo of everybody. :-) I suspect jai is also an INFP, (and atticus), but she hasn't taken the test yet..yes, i noticed your *extreme* tendency to trail off, lol. what's up with THAT? <kidding>. :) glad you took the test..i was wondering what you were..i was thinking some kind of combo with infp, isfp, or intp, so i was pretty darn close! (some people are easier for me to guess than others.) thanks for your input!

hey, no problem, z. :) i still haven't figured out this concept of "attunement", though..it's something about the words, isn't it? i'm GOING to figure this out...:-)

This test said ISTJ, with almost no difference between T & F.

The official one by the psychologist showed INTJ, with almost no difference between J & P. Actually she said the differences in everything but I were very low. Does that mean I'm well balanced? Except for introverted. I'm so introverted that I'm practically turned inside out.

hi there, dinah!
i appreciate your taking the test and responding. :) yes, it does mean you are pretty well-balanced. this is a good thing. (although there is no real good or bad, just differences.) so we have another ISTJ..yay!! <applause> i'm surprised to hear that you're such an extreme introvert. you don't come across that way! and i wouldn't have guessed istj (or intj) either..interesting...very interesting...:-)

I can't see that I recognize myself in either of them. :) I'm not sure I recognize myself in any of them, but INTP comes closest. I'd actually like to take a sentence or two from all the I's. :)

well then maybe you really could be an IXXX! :-) (which, in translation, would be an I N/S T/F J/P to anyone who might be confused.) if that was the case you'd have to look up all the I's, like you mentioned, and then take the applicable parts from each I profile and compile them all into your own personal profile...:) that's pretty wild if you were split on 3 different traits..:) i'd work on becoming more extraverted just to further confuse things..:) i'd love to say, "i'm an XXXX", lol! ;)

hi, v. :) 100%..woooah! :)..do you continually feel like people are intruding on your 'mental space'? i know i felt that way at my very introverted times (i'm much more balanced now.) :)

amy,

I don't seem to notice my introversion online even when there's friction with people. But in my day-to-day life I try to keep my encounters down to a minimum. For every hour with people, I need two hours to decompress, digest, and rehash.

When I run out of recent events, I start ruminating about the past. I relive all my worst moments, not the good ones.

I didn't leave the house for almost a year at one point but now I'm getting out more. I have two friends and a daughter in town - and that's about it for human contact.

one psychologist said I'm "morbidly shy". I'm doing better though. Quit drinking and started cymbalta a month ago. Hope to work part-time someday.

Have you taken the enneagrams test (I probably spelled that wrong)? It has 9 basic personality types with subtypes or "wings". I took this test years ago and came out an idealistic "reformer" which fits with the INTJ or INFJ. I struggle with the need to be right and fix the world. (something I'm working on in the borderline skills course) Perhaps this is so overwhelming I have to live in isolation.

The enneagram test is as good as Meyer-Briggs IMO and really nails the nuances of each personality type from healthy to unhealthy states. When you figure in all the levels of health (9) and subtypes there are hundreds of possibilities. A "healthy" reformer, for example, has a whole different set of behaviors than an extremely unhealthy one.

I guess people do "intrude" on my mental space in that I can't get them out of my head. I also can't deal with noise.

I am an INTJ...interesting test. thanks:) (nm)

Extroverts/introverts

Looks like Cass and I are the only extroverts around.

A few years ago I took part in a Myers Briggs workshop with about 50 other people who all work in psychological counselling services in one way or another. There were only three extroverts - the director of the centre, the deputy director and me. I was one of the managers. I think it takes introversion to work in this field, extroversion to deal with the outside organisation of it.

Hi alesta
Why did you have a hard time?
was it the "yes or no" of it?
or the questions didn't make sense?
Did you feel overwhelmed by it?

I must say I dislike a" yes or no" kind of questionaire...
I see myself as in between or a little more this way than that.
but I did the best I could and guessed at what I am like most of the time.
Some questions were easy such as:
Are you a listener or a talker?
I am no doubt a listener first and a talker secondly.

Actually, my MB results always used to show that I was an INFP. Then one year it changed. I was just a few points into the extrovert category. So I guess I've changed over the years and come out of my shell a bit.
