I have known and loved a chicken and it seemed to be a creature of habit.....
So maybe it had crossed that street many a time?
Habit?
Lou....what are you doing up so late?

Jai,
I am up at this time because I felt compelled to check this site.
Anyway, what induced this habit in the chicken?

Lou you are so endearing. If I were there I would hold you and rock you to sleep.

I would wish you a sweet nights sleep.
Good night sweet Lou good night.

'Mornin, Lou,

Maybe a coyote was chasing the poor chicken. Life is tough when you're someone else's dinner.

Hi Lou - Actually, the chicken has OCD and generally crosses the road 40 to 50 times per day.
I will happily recommend my pdoc if said chicken is interested!

Smiles!

Charm,
Is the chicken's behavior a learned or aquiered behavior?

Hello again, Lou -

In this case, I believe this particular behavior is a combination of both innate and learned behaviors. That is, I do believe that there are specific genes that play a role in this chicken's disorder - however, I also believe that there must be some external environmental factors that triggered our chicken's symptoms - i.e., continuosly crossing the road.

So, Lou, we see the compulsion in the form of crossing the road --- but, what is the obsession leading to this compulsion? Could it be an obsession with the fear of being eaten as suggested by a previous poster? Does he get to one side of the road, fear someone will pull up with a hotwings trolly - then run to the other side of the road just to have the same fear with an underlying belief that the other side may be safter?

Is the problem really that we just don't have an FDA approved SSRI for Poultry?

Charm

P.S. - Thanks for allowing me into your chicken discussion -- it has brought a laugh and smile into my day!

Lou,
I'm afraid that I do know why the turtle crossed the road.

The turtle is just not very bright.

The tortoise may have won the race against the hare, but the race with the SUV coming at 50 mph is a totally different story! :-)

Good Morning!

Lou, this is a tough one!

My first thought is that they buried him without his red cap and in his best zombie form he is crossing the road to retrieve it. (Is that morbid or what?)

Rats! It must be too early for me. I'm totally stumped! I'm going to get some more coffee and await the answer.

Thanks!
