Hi Crazychick. I saw an Oprah show once that was about the bible prophesizing things like the JFK assassination and what not. I don't know what to think about that because I haven't researched it myself. Maybe you should go to your local library and search the internet about this matter. This way you can find out for yourself if it's true or not.

I don't think it's true. If this were true wouldn't it be in the news, media, or somewhere in our popular culture? Wouldn't other religions be saying the same thing? I really don't believe in psychics and fortune telling. It's a crock.

Crazychickuk,
Jehovah Witnesses have been telling us that for years. I don't want to upset any Witnesses by posting the wrong thing, because religion is such a personal and subjective thing. Calm down hon, it's okay. They want to save your soul and this is their way of bringing our vulnerabilities to the surface quickly. It worked, didn't it? Many people want to live forever.

hey cc (love the name btw).
sweetheart this is just the type of thing that freaks most people out...you're not alone here. Sometimes people prophecy things like this kinda like media does with sex (controvertial analogy i know) anyway it is a way to GRAB your attention and 'listen' to what their 'selling'.
Keep in mind i do have a respect for all religions whether or not i agree or believe in them. afterall that's what is absolutely Wonderful about our country! But even within a religion- people head individual "churches/temples etc.", so they use their own tactics to "recruit" or to "spread the word".
And it is true that there are several things that are in the bible that can be seen as signs to the end of the world that have happened.
HOWEVER, if you are talking the christian religion also remember that it does state VERY FIRMLY that we will NOT know the day nor the hour (that includes heads of churches/temples etc.). After all GOD knows that we freak out with info like this...can you imagine knowing we would die at 10:30 this morning? this would be horrible for all!! mahem. It would do nothing good for our lives to know this...
ALSO, keep in mind that stated in the bible this "End" is NOT something people Will or Should be scared of. It's not about burning, pain OR vengence. The christian religion teaches that when Jesus comes again this is a Wonderful and Incredible thing. he is coming again to save us and take us "home". He will not come shooting laser beams from eyes, or stomping foot on people like godzilla. however, somehow in the last 2000 years this vengeful "coming" has grown into popular belief.
I guess it's kinda the same reason i still illogically believe i'm a useless pile of cr@p...cuz it's much easier to believe the bad about us than the good, or to believe that we should be punished for something, easier to believe than knowing that no matter how much we've messed up that there is someone who loves us NO MATTER what, and accepts us...GOD.

So please dearheart, there are many things in this life to get freaked out about, many things to fear or run from. and i say this with EVERY fiber of my being, this is NOT something to fear!
if people come to your door saying "the world is ending" you can say...great! can't wait!
They may respond (slightly shocked but say) But you are a SINNER! you MUST REPENT!! or you will be (left behind, not be forgiven, go to h@ll...etc, etc..blah blah)
you can just say, god knows my sins and forgives me that is afterall why he sent his son, you can say but thank you for reminding me that he's coming for me, and close the door.

OK, now to expand a little. Several major religions (please correct me if i'm wrong and you are from said religion) but several believe similar beliefs. I think Ala (is it muslim religion?) also believes that ALA is all forgiving. I should know but am not that familiar with Judaism-but i think there's a similar belief here- they are waiting for the savior to come, but that it's not about revenge it's all about love and coming to save and take us "home".
And of course the buddism religion. I used to have a co-worker that was buddist and we compared our religion alot...VERY similar concepts. both Very peaceful and at the heart, filled with love and forgiveness.

Please find peace in love through the message of God...(goddess, buddah, other dieties). Not anger or hate or hurt-we've got enough of that here already crazychick.

and the bible (imho) can be interpreted many, many...many ways. Many individual twists can be put on the words by people. So listen gracefully but be educated and take it with a grain of salt.

Peace to you crazychick

PS - Rereading your post I realize you're probably looking for political specifics and I can't give you any, other than history repeats itself over and over and over again. Our weapons are more destructive and our leaders, as always, full of self-interest. My feeling is that there's nothing we can do about that; humanity has a course to run and will run it.
I believe we need to be steady, caring and powerful in our own immediate environments. Take care crazychick and don't let this get to you; prophecies can always be interpreted in different ways to suit those who want to use them; religion has a powerful reason (IMO, $$) to use prophecy.

BTW I may be going to hell if there is a God.

So if you're religious there are definitely better people than me on this subject, if you're worried about your soul.

NEVER!! are you kidding???
you are so giving and caring and just want to help others, if people like YOU are going to h#ll then that's where i want to be!

Besides, i don't believe people are "Sent" to hell. i believe that hell is a place without God, without love, without truth and freedom and if you choose that then that's where you go. If you want to love, to be loved, to respect, to have peace and acceptance then God is your place. (feel like a travel agent here) ;^)

(disclaimer: these are only my humble opinions. i respect anyones views and their own beliefs on this subject and i don't mean to "push" or "sell" my beliefs to others here. just my opinion.)

They told me the same thing. It was going to end next year. That was in 1973.

Back in 1973 it was Russia, Cuba, communism spreading, nuclear weapons etc.

The thing is you can read a lot into the Bible if you want to. It's vague enough it's very open to interpretation.

I was told the same thing about 1988, or was it '86? Something to do with the 40th anniversary of Israel's existence as a nation. I wonder what it's like to be convinced of something like that, then it doesn't happen. Must be downright disappointing.

Hi Tabitha,
I don't think it's disappointing to believe in prophecies that don't happen; when a person is really a believer, it's simple to find justifications for everything.

Well, in that case, it was *obvious* that it was a misinterpretion and it needs to be studied again.

I believe the prophesy is now being interpreted as 40 years(a prophetic generation)from the reunification of Jerusalem which was in 1967. Which would make it 2007. Do you think they are disapointed or secretly relieved?

There were several websites around during the Iraq war which tried to fit the war into Bible prophecy which was not too hard to do when armies marching so near the plains of Megiddo aka Armageddon.

I agree with the person who mentioned that the Bible says no one knows the day or the hour.... but it can be scary to think about...but I also got spooked watching Nostradamus on cable tv late one night. And I don't believe in Nostradamus at all.
